"Tricking" Renegade...

I play C&C :: Renegade alot. I recently downloaded several maps that boasted bot players, so that i could *hopefully* play them offline (im seriously sick of the skirmish map).

However, as i recently found out, the only way i can play them offline is if i set up a LAN server. The problem with this is that Renegade is able to detect the fact that there are no other computers connected to mine, and wont allow me to start a network game.

Is there some way around this? Im sick of the skirmish map, and i rarely play online because of the terrible lag involved with 56k. Any help would be appreciated.

I presume you don't have a second computer or the option to run VmWare with another virtual PC running the game ?

Im intrigued, but i dont think a 667 could handle that.

No. If i was going to do something that simple, do you think i would have asked for a way around it?  ;)

Invite one or more of your friends to a lan party.  :D

BAH. Ive been waiting for one particular friend to get off his ass and throw one. He keeps saying "ill get around to it" and "ill do it one day" etc. It pisses me off to no end. I want to show off my renegade skils!

Those who play that are very selfish and will probably only want to play that.

Counterstrike is so crap. I installed it on my comp, and 15 minutes later, i uninstalled it, cos i was sick of it.  :P

Counter Strike isn't crap.

However, it gets boring after a while.

Only the people who lag behind on games play it. Or those with spare time problems.

Go on WOL, set up a game to your satisfaction, and in "Maximum Players", type in "1".

I have that "problem". Lan only works for me when my ethernet cable is connected to another comp and also my DSL modem.

Try to connect it to a external modem or something that uses ethernet cable.Maybe that works

Sounds good, in theory, but im not talking online play. I want to play alone, offline.

Skirmish mode only lets you play that one map.

Im so sick of that map, that my unborn children will be born sick of that map. :O

Somehwere on the net there is a collection of all the non-flying maps with "bots" - or, rather, Ren's crappy versions of bots - but I don't remember wher I got them from.
