Actually the first crusaders managed to capture Jerusalem, lead by Le Puy (the English didn't participate in the first crusade). Richard Lionheart lead the English armies in the third crusade but he failed to conquer Jerusalem, so I don't see why you would call him the greatest military leader of the middle ages.

that just shows how much you know about history. only a small part of the crusaders consisted of prisoners. but those were rapidly defeated by the turks. though the real armies with soldiers and knights fought their way to Jerusalem with great success in battle. the moral of the christians lay high above the muslim fighting spirit. the christians were united while the muslims were divided.

anyway are you saying Richard Lionheart, the greatest military leader of the middle ages, was a simple thief or barrbarian?

Oh god, if you are someone who's considered to be "knowledgable" about history, I'd hate to meet someone ignorant of it....

didn't say I was knowledgable about history. but I know a few facts about the crusades. I have read a great deal about them.

and yes Lionheart failed to conquer Jerusalem, but this was because he aimed at other targets first, more strategically important. He had to leave the holy land before he got time to do this, due to problems in Britain.

Saladin was the greatest muslim leader, he and Richard Lionheart , fought many battles. and the outcome showed that Richard managed to dodge all the ambushes and traps Saladin prepared.

Saladin was the only one who binded the muslims together, and when he died shortly after Richard had left the holy land, the muslims started fighting against each other. If Richard had stayed in the holy land for a little more time, he might have achived great victories there.

what movie are we talking about?
