I just recieved two CD's, both are copyright protected so I can't play them on my PC or put them onto my Mp3 player, is there anyway I can bypass this? I believe I have every right because I don't have a CD player, only my Mp3 player and the CD's were bought legally, fair and square.

Yes there is a rather simple way, you jsut have to press one or two keys and you can play them on your computer.  Unfortunatly, I am unaware of which keys those are.  Try googling.

When you put the CD into your cd rom hold the shift button to deactivate autoplay, which stops the CD protection software it illegally puts on your computer(maybe).

how did you try to rip them?

He wasn't tryign to rip them, jsut play them.

Btw, it is completly legal to rip DVD's and CD's.  Just not to distribute the ripped copies.

Nope, tried shift, stops the autorun but it still comes up with the music videos or "Join The Trapt Website", crap.

Have you tried listening to the audio with Winamp? I would not double click on the drive I would launch Winamp and then select play from CD drive.

The folly of all this technology is that it is not necessary for some hacker to break through the added encryption to defeat it. Any consumer can circumvent it by playing that CD on a standard CD player, taking a feed from that player into the line-in jack on their computer, and record each track into a WAV file. Once a WAV the song can easily be converted to an MP3 using a myriad of programs freely available on the Net. It's considerably more time consuming compared with using a ripper, but it works.

I don't have Winamp, I have Creativeplayer and Windows Media, tried WM to no avail; it detects the video, not the CD.

Well that may be part of the problem. The recording industry is counting on people only using Windows Media player so they make there software force WMP to only play the video or something like that. Winamp is free ( http://www.winamp.com/player/ ) I would suggest trying it since at this point you have nothing to lose.

Wait so you cant play a CD you bought on your computer......thats really odd , I have never had that happen ever...infact everytime I buy a CD I play it on my comp when I get home....

Perhaps you dont have all the media types selected in WM.....you should check that.....

Other than that when the auto play comes up close it and open WM manually....

When it loads up go to the box at the top to select where the music is comming from and select the drive the cd is in.....it should work I cant think why it wouldent.....

Very strange....
