ICQ is old school, and one of my friends only uses it as all of his friends or contacts use it. I mostly use MSN, but thats only because everyone I know uses it.(I don't know why other than its ease of use)

Althoug ICQ may have delined because there was too much stuff on it for the average user.

One thing I miss about ICQ is that you can change the names of the people on your contact list. Everybody I know uses MSN and I wish you could do that. I don't have a flipping clue who 90% of the people on my list are. I have almost 100 contacts (probably only 20 of whom I added myself) and whenever I turn the thing on it's there's always like 7 people who say hi and I have no idea who the f*** they are. And half the people have some long-ass stupid name that's a quote from a movie or a song or something and uses smilies in it but they don't appear in the list so it's just bizzare characters and the other half change their name like every freakin' day. AUGH! That really annoys me. I guess that's why I hardly use it anymore.

MSN became used by everyone because Microsoft, the evil Microsoft, decided that they would like to use their monopoly on OS system to bring their other products. Nothing more :P

Well it is going mainstream alot more easily after every user taking what's already on got on MSN ;)

Anyway, I can't wait to see what they incorporated on their next OS: Longhorn.

just wait untill you hear about the sofware and musics copyright protection Microsoft is planning to use for Longhorn. . .

Not that it's ever gon'na work .. but nevertheless. . . :P

Atomic, I have a link. It's talking about Palladium's "trusted computing" but frankly it means to trust Microsoft. They changed its name, because of how unpopular it was I guess, but it's basically the same problem:

If you wish to further your readings and get some other interesting aspect, this is also interesting even though we're still not there:
