Can't wait to see someone on the moon and eventually mars. The sad thing is they would probably send a monkey first..[to mars]

But maybe they should put PEI on the map first...but then N.S. can't even put us on their tourist brochures. :P

I like the talk of establishing a permanent prescence on the moon. I wonder how that would be accomplished, and what lunar denizens would actually do.

About damn time!

Humanity on Earth is like a colony of bacteria in a closed bottle. We may have a lot of problems that we need to solve inside this bottle, but finding a way to actually open the bottle should always be one of our top priorities.

Yes, mars has two moons, phobos and deimos, I think they are called.

I am not sure but i have read somewhere Phobos is the biggest and yet is only 27km large, so i don't know if those things can be qualified as moons.

So what shape is our moon, compared to theirs, then? Ours certainly isn't spherical - it's egg-shaped - admittedly not drastically so, but egg-shaped nevertheless.

And anyway, why does the shape matter?

It's not the shape that matters, it's the size. Phobos and Deimos (the moons of Mars) are tiny. And as far as we can tell, their chemical composition is identical to that of your average inner-solar-system asteroid.
