So you've been to ALDI !

Is it the Titan MD 8080 Xl that you bought ?

Is it running slow or why do you need to switch off background processers ?

If you really need too here is the list of necessary basic processers for win xp:

System

smss.exe

csrss.exe

winlogon.exe

services.exe

Isass.exe

svchost.exe(there may be multiple instances of this one .all required)

Explorer

spoolsv.exe

Hope this helps ? :)

There's nothing wrong, it's just a habit that i still have from my old computer (win 98 with extra ram, cpu power etc), i had to keep the amount of programs running at each time to a minimum. :-

Yeah, it helped. :)

We have more in common than I thought.lol

I bought it too ,although I built a P4C800 E-deluxe Asus and corsair ram DDR 400 .

I know exactly what you mean, with my old AMD 1.3Ghz K7 I also had to close nearly everything when playing Emperor.

I think you will find that the new comp will run with everything running !

Visit PCPITSTOP.com and check it online, make sure you disable temporarily your anti-virus otherwise it gives the test a false reading.

My PC pitstop score for this comp (ASUS P4C 800-E Deluxe is 1685.

It would really interest me to know your pcpitstop score ?

I havn't had time yet to set up the Titan as yet. ;)

you probably also know the MSCONFIG command / program .. it allows you to edit a few simple things that get loaded when Windows boots up.

I've been setting up my Titan all day, 6 channel sound 5.1 etc.

So I had to take the surround sound off my DVD player under the telly and re-route all the cables, what a job !

It's a shame that manufacturers can't find a better way to connect all the cables, fiddling around on all fours, is not a great pleasure.

I wonder how Ken is getting on ?

The manual for the comp is good but the explanation of all the extras and settings is a bit vague.

Especially if more than one sound control app is running at the same time.lol ;)

My computer is running sweet, XP is full of eyecandy too compared to my '98. :)

Btw. i'm used to shut down programs that have locked up/gone corrupt/etc with ctrl + alt + del. Does that work with xp too?

Press Ctrl Alt Delete then select the processers tab, click on the process you wish to end and ok.

here is my score..... i still cant figure out why it says clean up my c drive cuz i have run cleansweep and it says there is no space to clean........![attachment deleted by Gobalopper]

Your score is not shown on the jpg that you attached.

But nevertheless, run defrag app in windows, not cleansweep.

Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/defrag.

Run the defrag I think you will find that, that is what pcpitstop is refering to . :)
