In Scandinavia the letter "w" is called "dobbel v"(double v), and not "dobbel u"(double u) as in English.

This is a big difference. We pronounce it exactly as we pronounce "v", and almost never use it.

In England, the "w" is pronounced more like a "u" than a "v", because it's called "double u".

In Germany, "v" is pronounced "f", so they pronounce "w" as Englishmen pronounce "v" just to have that sound.

Where Norwegians falter is often on the "r" and the "v", because they are different. Where I come from, Bergen, we have a German "r", which is very far from the English "r". However, if you practise a bit on it, it's easy.

we don't use these letters in norwegian, though we have them in our alphabet: c q w x z

the reason is that for c we have s or k, for q we have k for w we have v for x we have ks and we don't have the sound z in norwegian.

in addition we have these letters: æ ø å

Finally we are getting some real snow now. It held off pretty good this year.

Time to get out my snowsuit, dogsled and snowshoes to get to class. ;) (I keep them all in my small closet, but racoons pull my sled not dogs, as racoons eat my garbage and make great pets. ;D )
