Hello everybody,

As Vangaurd and I now live in the same general area, we were thinking of getting together, watching the dune minsieries, and recording an audio commentary for it. We would then proceed to put said comentary online for download, or make it part of the fed2k radio station idea which gets booted around every once in awhile. Now, I'd like to know if there would be any interest on your part in downloading/listening to an audio commentary by two true Dune fans one who enjoys the new mini's and one who loves Lynch's original. I am trying to download the special edition of the minsieries for the commentary, as my copy of it was lost during my move last spring ($45 down the tubes). If it was successfull, we might move on and do the same for Children of Dune, Lynch's Dune, Allen Smithee Dune, etc.

Anyone from the Ottawa area who would be interested in participating, feel free to say so.

I would definitely love to hear Vanguard and your audio commentary on the Dune mini series as well as the David Lynch version. I think this is a great idea.

That sounds like a trully superb idea! I don't know if you guys would be at all itnerested, but if we could get some audio stuff set up, you could choose some extra people to participate using msn messanger, with voice conversation on... or some such nonsense ;) God knows I'd love to listen and/or help out however possible :)

Perhaps you guys could write up some sort of questionairre and distribute it to selected members, and then maybe refer to some of them for the recording.

To sum up, I'd love to listen to it :) Not only for the content, but for the gentle tones of our local caraboo hunter's soothing voice ;)

Well, I am always interested in an analysis of some intelligent content, should it be written or else. Not that other things aren't intelligent, but they do not bring something to my intellect and an analysis is then a bit futile :D

About a radio, I wonder how you could get enough Dune content to really make soemthing on a regular basis... Except if you analyse everything in the Dune sery perhaps :P

Due tot he set-up, that wouldn't be possible. As I said, I lost my DVD copy of the mini, and we woud be watching a downloaded version, meaning that the audio would be coing through my computer speakers, and if we had the msn thing set-up, I doubt anything would get recorded fromt he people on msn except muffled sounds, sicne we will be using a microphone hooked up to the compuer to record it. It'll probably take a few tests to see if it can even be done with decent sound.

Nah, lol, just an idea :) Though I'd have a few ideas to solve your problem ;) I was mostly thinking of it as a way of discussion before you started recording. What do you think of the questionairre part though, lol? :D

Would a tape recorder work? then reply the tape onto the computer after watching it. It might cut down on some noise.

I was thining of that, but I dunno, you'd be transfering the commentary twice, which will distort it, plus the noise made by peope/vehicles whil recording it to the comp.

Could be held on a Dunesday. :) (or around then)

If you guys actually organize it, and we don't record it half a year before the date you set for it, we could release it then.

"Allen Smithee Presents, an Allen Smithee Film... Dune: The Remake! Allen Smithee, born John Doe, emerged from a liberal arts college in Atlantis and slowly began developing his career, winning himself praise with such films as "I Don't Know Who You Are' and as an Assistant Director with 'John Doe: The Forgotten Years.' His future plans include a remake of Casablanca titled, 'Casablance 2000.'"

All right, the plan is to make the FH's Dune one in two weeks. If it works, we might do CoD and Lynch's thatrical cut in later weeks.

Great!

Maybe you could read up on that new game thing we've all been hearing so much about ;) give us some extra publicity :D

Can't wait to hear the stuff, hope I can get it on an mp3 or a cd so I can take it with me on vacation :)

The last little while I've been having a huge Dune craving. Like last year I started re-reading Dune the first week of september, although due to university stuff I ahven't quite finished it yet, and I started watching the copy of the mini I downlaoded in preperation for in two weeks when we rent the SE and do the audio commentary. I wish I had my copy of CoD here, I'd be watching it too.

So how will this commentary be split up? will it be in 3 whole parts? one for each episode? It would be interesting to watch the DVD again while listening to the commentary. (the DVD on low volume/mute)
