Dune 7? SPOILERS. spose.

I noticed on the other dune 7 speculative post that the plot could revolve around the return of the thinking machines or the face dancers/tleilaxu thing. However I've noticed a couple of seemingly minor things in GEoD which might figure in the end more than we think. Let me know what you think:

1. Leto II hid all the family atomics of all the houses in a safe place. Someone finds them and decides to wreak havoc (like the Honoured Matres when their 300 units of THE CHARGE for THE WEAPON runs out?)

2. Leto II also expresses his fear for the day that someone works out how to nullify the Holtzman effect. This would render all shields useless, and I expect it will screw up suspensors <no-fields and foldspace thingies too>? thus we might see wars being fought very differently again in the final book?

Any views on this?

It's interesting speculation. I suppose the stash of atomics could come into play. However, I think when Leto was talking about Holtzman generators becoming obsolete, he was simply talking about the power of the passage of time, and how technology is and will always be changing. The Holtzman generator itself rendered weapons as we know them pretty much obsolete, and Leto was saying that it is inevitable that something will come to succeed the Holtzman field in the same way.

Could you post the quote where he talks about the H. fields being obsolete? that might help put it in context. I haven't read the books in over a year now, and with the Pandora trilogy and the many other books I'd like to read, I may not get back to them for a while.

wasnt the charge exhausted already in the battle between the honored matres and the benegeserit? I think dune 7 will deal more with that dark force which the honored matres ran away from and theres that capsule inside that tlieaxu with samples of alot of people even gurney halleck, maybe duncan and the others will run into that force which pursued the honored matres, now that their in the middle of no where

there are 300 units of the charge left, and im fairly sure one was enough to destroy dune.... but still theres a lot of planets out there.

i thought they were all wasted away after bashar teg attacked the honored matres on their planet and the hoored matres used up all the charge to destroy their army

I am not sure if they used up their charge or not.

Spoilers form Chapterhouse to answer some questions.

It says at first of chapterhouse Dune that only 300 units survived from the disaster..(when they ran away from whatever.)

And I beleive they ran out of charges by end of book.

That's why I go for the Omnius probes, who are self-sufficient. The Titan may show up as well.

I think this is a very important list. Lets take a look at these:

Omnius - Biggest enemy so far and gets its one serie of books (Legends)

Hecate - In Legends but not as big a threath and far lesser mentioned then Omnius (But that could come)

Facedancers - The groups could have combined or stayed apart. And well the people through the looking glass (or something, it's been a while) who look at Duncan are probally face dancers, but are not very hostile

Humans - In comparision with the others till now not a very big threath.

If I would put my money on one these, it would be Omnius (maybe helped with Hecate, but she could return in the one of the next Legends). I am 90% sure the threath is Omnius.

On another note, in House Corrino when D'Mur gets lost in space, he speaks of an ancient enemy.

Thats crazy, crazy i say!!! If Omnius appears in dune 7 i'll be really dissapointed because i know Frank Herbert wouldnt have written it that way, besides we have to wait untill this dune legend series ends untill we can say there are any omnius probes left undiscovered. I think the greatest potential danger is the last tleilaxu master, he can control Duncan and he has that capsule in him with all those potential gholas, another threat that seems more likely are the threats from the scattering, there was some force i recall that made the honored matres come back from the scattering, and i dont of any force stronger than the honored matres in Chapterhouse: dune besides some unknown force in the scattering

It's not crazy. How can you possibly know what Frank Herbert wanted. Fact is, Frank isn't writing anymore. And the hints:

Thread from the past (D'Mur in House Corrino)

and:

The Omnius probes (Legends)

clearly indicate what is going to happen in Dune 7.

One of the reasons Legends are being written is so everyone could understand Dune 7 better (I read somewhere).

Live with it, Frank doesn't decide what will happen.

those books werent written by frank herbert you know, and it would be a very big coincidence if some omnius force were discovered in dune 7, thats what everyone wants to hear but im sure thats not how frank herbert would have written it

It doesn't matter what Frank would have done. Frank is dead, Frank doesn't write books anymore (not in this plain of excistince at least). His son does and he gives the hints I've mentioned and he will write book 7. (and he will do that by using notes Frank left behind)

It DOES matter what Frank would have done, this is his series, not the prequels or legends of dune, dune 7 should be written like Frank Herbert would have written it, it shouldnt be written with lousy detail and alot of action scenes all the time like in the prequels

I do not want it to be omnius garbage. That is not shown in the orginal frank herberts books in any way. Unless frank was taking a turn in his books like he sometimes did.

Who is Hecate?? I forget.

They are making dune 7 into a 3 book series, but before that they are going to write another series about paul atriedies life before leaving to arrakis, they claim its important information you need to know to further understand the dune universe... although i dont mind reading extra dune books it seems like they're milking the dune universe for all its worth

I agree, the change that they will write Paul of Dune is very big.

On Dune 7: I agree with you that they should write it as Frank has intended it. But changes are very slim. It says (BH & KJA) not (FH). The Omnius garbage is in the original books (or did you completly forget all the references to the thinking machines and the Butlerian Jihad.)
