  1. It's not wacky. It's just interest. 10 million cash can be seen in a normal game, multiply by 5% of interest rate is half a million.
  2. The library is actually in the game folder. The editor3.txt file contains all the details about the event making. This is a new file in Platinum Edition.
  3. The cash you own as well as the cash the company owns will receive interest.
  4. Yes, that's exactly I'm talking about. It is a mystery. However, I do know that the player actions will not generate overhead, because I let the computer to manage the company (resign as chairman). The computer didn't change any of the routines I set up or expand to another city. Still, the overhead is ridicules. I guess the overhead is related to the average revenue or profit of recent years, that's why there is zero overhead.
  5. hi, jeffry The infrequent expenses are under their own list. Selling industries lose is listed in industry profits. Bulldozing track or stations loses are listed under track maintenance, replacing or retire trains under train maintenance. I can't come up with another one that may be count as overhead and I don't think there is, because the manual said and I quot "Overhead is a figure that will generally run about 1 percent to 3 percent of your revenue. It represents the assorted costs of running a business—the taxes, fees, licenses, pens, notepads, yellow sticky-notes, coffee, phone bills, and so on."
  6. I think this is not the main reason. The manager do change the overhead but not so intense. Also, if you stick to one manager, the overhead will still fluctuate a lot especially after you expand your revenue.
  7. I found overhead cost expanding quickly and its not 1%-3% of your revenue as the manual says about it. Sometimes it could go up to 15% of that year's revenue. Maybe it has something to do with the profit or the age of the company? Does anyone have a clue?
  8. You can merge them in the first day of the game if you want.
  9. Yes, as far as I know, it works like this.
  10. The earliest or latest starting date won't change anything in campaign maps, the game will start from default starting date.
  11. Eh... I don't know what to say. You were trying to move the start date of this campaign to 1828, and I just tried to help.
  12. Please give me a screen shot or game saving. In my experience, they NEVER break down, crash or be robbed. Edit: I tried by myself. I watch a computer running its company for 10 years and it did break down once. I didn't noticed before.
  13. The trains managed by computer (it can be either your company or computers') are impossible to break down unless you cheat.
  14. I tried to change the starting date to 1828 as you suggested, and it worked. You should change both the earliest and default starting date to 1828. You should also change the choice events. In the choice event trigger: GameYear>=1835 and CampaignChoice = 1, 1835 should be changed to 1828 or just deleted. edit: you may also want to change the winning events. The losing date should be moved to 1848 instead of 1855, so that you are still given 20 years to accomplish the requirement.
  15. I got it. I thought it was some kind of bug or something.
  16. I have checked your game, this is great. But I wonder why is your track maint. and fuel cost so little?
  17. 7 to 1 is very impressive simply by normally running a company. If you willing to buyback stock or do some financial play like Gwizz, you can easily achieve 20 even 100 split. I can achieve 400+ split in a non-cheating game, and I once achieved somewhere 14 million split in a crazy cheaty game.
  18. Well, it's because the train was considered as a POINT in the program. This point is on the very front of the engine. The small white triangle in the trains detail screen is the trains' points. Since you cannot bulldoze the track when there is a train running on it, therefore if the Point can go through somewhere, the whole train can go through it after. This works almost all the time except the situation the jeff pointed out. In this situation, since it's a double track the two trains which considered as two points have never gone cross each other. It's hard to explain it in text, I do it in 4 pictures. Here is the link:
  19. I think what you are looking for is the Appendix of the Strategy Guide.
