A oldie that I had to review...

Game: Starcraft

Made By: Blizzard Entertainment

Genre: RTS

Storyline: Basically, humanity goes deeper into space to gather more minerals, comes across the Protoss and a war begins. The Terran (The humans) creates the Zerg as some propagandistic force, they lose control and a third race begins, the war begins.

Graphics: Eh what can I say; the graphics are not any Command and Conquer: Generals or Battlefield 1942. Despite this, we must all take into consideration the obvious fact that the game is quite dated so with that the graphics are quite impressive (Besides, where else can you hear so many ways of death, heavy machine guns, big laser blasts and a shit load of Zergy fraggin

The story you posted is not the story provided on the Starcraft CD. It told something about exiled criminals who got lost. The Protoss were created by enigmatic race whos name I forgot and after they were dissapointed with their creation they created the Zerg.

You also forgot to mention that parts of the game where Zerg and Terran are concerned were obviously ripped off from the Alien movies. Not that there's anything wrong with that ;D

Good review, and that race was the Xel' Naga. And i don't know if they ripped it off, but i agree... there are a lot of similarities there. All the criminals on earth were thrown in 4 ships, and used as early explorers of some planet (forgot the name) but there was a computer malfunction on the ships, so the ships went on, lost coordinates of earth and they crashed on 3 different planets. (1 ship was utterly destroyed). After a few centuries, the zerg come and interfere, and start taking over terran homeworlds, and infesting the terran population. The protoss come and try to remove the zerg, but bladibla, utterly hopeless yaddayaddaa, zerg win, protoss lose homeworld, and terrans are pretty much fighting each other instead of the zerg.

Actually all sides are divided.

Protoss also fight each other (because of religion and discipline), and also zergs do (because of lost "psi" command link).

On many occasions Blizzards deliberately pokes stuff that comes from Alien, probably meant as a joke. It didn't really occur to me though till I saw Aliens again the other day when it was on Dutch telly.

Starcraft is VERY much like aliens.

I think I am the only person in the world who does not like starcraft, I find it too damn cartoony, and I hate blizzrds pop cap and how you have to build houses(whatever they are called) to produce troops

i thought the supply thing was great, gives you a good reason not to build only battlecruisers, as they also cost a lot of supplies so you can never have 100 battlecruisers

ok, cool.

And I dont like the supplie depot idea in ANY game. It would be great for a massive RTS game, like Age of Empires and stuff like that, but in a game that should be fast paced and exciting, I think it drags the gameplay down

I agree with you there, a little.

Am I the only one who absolutely despises that retarded group cap?

And things get more interesting when the Brood War units are added to the equation. Medics, for instance, make the mass marine rushes more practical (there was a classic SC match where a well-known player had his head handed him by a score of stimmed, D-Matrixed marines. Now imagine if there were medics in that mix. Stim, attack, heal; rinse and repeat.

Dark Archons - not only a good answer to extensive use of 'mage' units (feedback), but decent in slowing up the likes of Zergling rushes (maelstrom) and even seizing your opponent's advantages for your own (mind control). The final Protoss mission in the Brood War campaign is a good place to show how powerful mind control is, if you set up right.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

Stop complaining about group cap. If you were any good, you would set them to a number config and it would be like not having a group cap. Even though massing just seems the blockhead's way out of a game :P
