Once again, here's Bunch O' Stuff's little brother with some old news we weren't able to mention while the site was down:

The Children of Dune DVD is now available.

Children of Dune will air in the UK on the Hallmark Channel June 7, 14, and 21st (from Dune Info).

Space is very pleased with the Canadian performance of CoD, and was amazed by the amount of e-mails they recieved by people citing VCR glitches and requesting re-airings. They will be showing it a second time during a Dune marathon with the first miniseries and Lynch's Dune on the Civic holiday (August 4).

Dreamer of Dune, Brian Herberts biography of his father, is now available.

That's it for now.

Fakei, God save you that you aren't true. Hallmark channel is one channel of our cable TV provider UPC, usually showing the worst of US movie production. Yesterday it was a shining moment for this channel: Children of Dune...

Compared to first trilogy, first part is much better, with more Lynch-like atmosphere. Altough this one was actually based on Dune Messiah and there are still some flaws (i.e.Irulan looks rather younger than her sister Wensicia). But dream scenes where much more talkative and coherent than in first trilogy. To sum up, good work, we'll see if they kept it up next weeks.

Great Britain, one of the 7 most wealthy and advanced countries of the world, and its citizens have no cable TV?

Anyway, Hallmark had its hq in former WTC towers. It had a very strange signal after 11th september...

Children of Dune for Emmy.

Basic-cable networks push hard for Emmys

Sci-Fi Channel is undertaking its first Emmy campaign, president Bonnie Hammer says, sending voters an orb containing miniseries candidates Taken and Children of Dune.

DVD Extras: 'Fellowship' leads DVD awards

Hope Dune wins both awards!

Expect futuristic, out-of-this-world design for galleries

Adams became hooked on sci-fi when she read Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles" as a young girl. As it happens, SFX will feature a collection of Bradbury's work, including first-edition copies of "The Martian Chronicles" and "Fahrenheit 451." The museum also will have a signed first edition of Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy -- "Foundation," "Foundation and Empire" and "Second Foundation." Other first-edition books housed in the museum will include a copy of Frank Herbert's "Dune," Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Left Hand of Darkness" and H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine."

Historical society to meet Thursday

Dr. Donald Hassler, Kent State University, will present "The Future in Fiction: Funny Images and Solemn Images." The images range from the monstrous and beneficial sandworms in Frank Herbert's novel Dune to the delicate and butterfly-like Eloi in H. G. Wells' The Time Machine.

Audio BEAt Goes On

New Millennium Audio had "a great show," according to v-p Mary Aarons. "We had two breakfasts that were incredibly well received," she noted, citing the appearance of New Millennium authors Larry King, Tom Cook, Gene Simmons and Herb Cohen at those events, as well as an outing to a Dodgers game. Things were also rosy for Audio Renaissance. "We've had an enormously positive response to our list," said marketing director Jeanne-Marie Hudson. She pointed to lead titles Dune: The Machine Crusade by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, as well as The Red Hat Club by Haywood Smith and Ultimate Punishment by Scott Turow, as piquing the interest of visitors to the booth. "I think people are recognizing the potential of the market," she added.

Dazzling, disturbing 'Velvet' is David Lynch's best

Little mention of Dune.

Old News:

Earlier generations had Star Trek and Star Wars and even The Rocky Horror Picture Show to ritualize. Or they stayed up late in the night discussing The Lord of the Rings trilogy, or the science-fiction classic Dune.
