Just Ranting

Well went out mowing and since there isn't a whole lot you can do while mowing I basically had an hour to think. Since I had made a few replies here earlier I basically thought about fed2k.

First thing I wondered is why do I shy away from political topics? That's easy, I don't watch the news. I find it depressing. There is a lot of things happening that I'd rather just stay ignorant about. Hey, it's my choice. Second, I really don't have a lot of knowledge on political processes and history. I know what I have been taught up through high school but I never really payed much attention to it.

Religion? I never went to church until I met my wife. She is a christian and I was, well, borderline white trash I think. I had never set foot in a church and really have no idea what the bible says. I met her and my life changed though. I became a better person and cleaned up a little (kinda dumped my whole wardrobe). I figured that I should give church an honest shot so I went. It was all right and the people were friendly enough. I went a few times. They hired a new worship pastor and I thought hey this guy is pretty cool. I started talking to him and even hung out with him a few times. Apparantly though after he thought he had me going to church, he had more pressing issues. He had his own little clique in his worship group. I kinda felt like I was in high school again. You have your jocks over here, your geeks over there, ect. ect. I also started noticing that all the so called friendly people were hypocrits. Outside of church these people could be real jackasses. The more I got to know them the more I saw through them. I decided it wasn't for me and left. I don't even think I learned anything from the bible at all because every sermon it seemed was about that if you weren't a christian you were going to hell. Hmm. Ok.

Why don't I post in fan fiction? Well I'm really not that creative of a guy. I can't draw and I can't really write. Drawing turns out to be nothing but chicken scratches. As for writing, I find that I have a hard time getting things down on paper. When I start writing a story, after a few pages everything I wrote seems to mask a story I read or saw on TV. It's just not my thing.

What about Dune topics? Never read the books. I saw the movie and watched the 3 Children of Dune, that's it. I'm trying to read the first book now but I'm a slow reader. I retain what I read if I find it interesting but that's usually a few chapters into the book so I do miss things from the beginning.

Technical? If I have a quick answer maybe but I'll leave that up to the mods.

I'm a simple guy with 2 kids and a wife. I work in a factory and have no real toys besides my playstation 2 and my computer. I used to have a Monte Carlo I used to work on but with the kids having so many cars was not practical. Hey I wouldn't trade my life for anything though. I proud as hell of my kids. I'm even going to post a picture of them. A 2 year old girl and a 4 month old boy. They keep me well entertained and I don't need the other things.

Well that wraps things up and like the topic says I'm just ranting. This community is great. I enjoy coming and reading and even responding sometimes to all the posts. Hope I didn't take up too much of your time reading this. [attachment archived by Gobalopper]

First off, you've got cute kids. :)

Second, we (or at least, I) don't expect anything from you other than to abide by the rules of the forum. You don't have to post fanfic. You don't have to post political stuff. There's no pressure for you to do any of those things. If you want to stick with the General board, that's perfectly fine and welcome to contribute in any way you like.

But you make me wonder one thing: What brought you to this particular board, if you've never read the books or played the games? Was it a movie/mini question?

ok no really here they are.... my lil hellians. Seth came out a Slapped the Doctor, Sammie came out cussing (her mothers fault, she has a mouth that will make a Sailor blush) and Noah came out flippin the bird. :O I was a pain to my parents I can only wait to see how my hellians repay me.

Seth will be 6 in November and Sam will be 3 then. Noah just turned 3 months old today.

Really though I love my kids, and wife. Other than God they are my reason for being here... oh yeah and Fed2k :D

Agh my wife chose Alexander, I liked Noah Emmanuel. the two meanings put together Comfort God is with us. But she didnt like the E name :-

LOL!! You have a nice family there DjCiD. Maybe this should turn into a post your kids thread. That would be cool.

My daughter's name is Kerilynn and my son's name is Joseph. Joseph was born this last January and Kerilynn turned 2 in February. My daughter can have quite an attitude like her mom.

Oh and Vangaurd3000 what brought me to this sight was simply the game. It was recommended by a good friend Jager. I just never left because I enjoyed the community so much. I may play Generals more now but I would never post on their boards. It's just one flame war after another and the Moderators hardly even show up. It's nice to come here knowing that if help is needed that someone will try to help instead of just telling you that you are a dumbass that you can't figure it out.

That would be a good thread although not to sure how many old fogies here have kids so it might be a short thread :)

Noah was born this past February. And Seth and Same were born a 3 years and one day apart in November. My wife and I have stop doing 'it' on Valentines day since that, no more kids with birthdays so close ;D Well after 3 no more kids altogether. I'm not trying to repopulate the world here or anything :D
