TOO much focus on religion

Ok i have noticed alot of people talking about religion and how it sickens them or it "shackles" them or any other various metaphor.

Well i would like to say that i am christian but i too despise religion. Religion is not what you should believe or focus on. You should rather focus on believing in a higher entity. Religion is merely the following of doctrines or rituals. Religion does not equal christianity. There is something called non-denominational christianity.

If you only focus on god and your personal relationship with him then you will feel the "freedom" that atheists feel.

Yes i believe that doctrines and rituals are things we dont need to "shackle" ourselves with.

For example Catholics are very doctrinated and ritualistic. However non-denominational christians are not bound by all the rituals and severe doctrines.

If your someone out there confused about what religion to take .. then your focusing on the wrong thing.

Dont worry about religion... worry about your relationship with the supreme being who most likely created this world. They say this supreme being knows your heart and your intentions and so it doesnt matter how you pay him homage .. only that you do so.

Some people like discussing politics, some people like discussing what shapes their chips have lately been, others like discussing games. Some, as this topic discusses, like to discuss religion. To each his own.

I like that you are having just a personal relationship with your god, without the religious organization, it sounds like a great idea for theists. It's as much of a freedom of thought as atheism is, as long as you consider your own thoughts on/with god, and what he/she/it did for you and the world. This was uplifting :)

Anyways, there's a lot of focus on religion because it's a very heated topic these days, what with Bush's Crusade on Islam, the growing number of Athiests in the world, the abrupt decline of Christianity, etc...
