Basicly, the one who fires first usually wins.

Correction: The one who hits first usually wins.

A tank might survive an enemy tank's blow. But usually not.

I think circumstances and drilled crew and luck is of important factor.

This thread is now called tank discussion where we can discuss about tanks, for those of u who have Real War:Land/Air/Sea,can u tell me why the tank is alike the artillery except that the artillery has to fire mortar shells up then let it fall.....might as well call the art a tank

You also play Real War:Land/Air/Sea? I played it some time ago, but not anymore... Still, I do remember some stuff...

-The sides are US and ILA (Independent Liberation Army...maybe the precursor to General's GLA [sp?])

-You can put an ILA terrorist in a transport plane and do a 9-11...

-Resource gathering is also nice, but there are limits to how many units you can build...as well as the supplies you can get...

-And some of the missions were a**-hard...

-Unfortunately, no capturing enemy techs!!!

Ok, back to tanks...

Something I just noticed between the GLA's Marauder tank and the ILA's artillery tank.

-When a GLA Marauder makes its first parts scavenge, it upgrades to resemble an ILA artillery tank...

The ILA's artillery tank has the turret/gun housing a little near the front...

Been playing it since day before yesterday actually.

Terrorists can also be put into helicopters.

Sub-launched cruise missiles are neat, and usually kill most things in one salvo.

Aircraft are fiddly to use, but the aerial maneouvres and the coutermeasures are worth learning mastering.

Artillery has a slow shell, so against fast-moving targets (light armour), it is not as effective as a tank. Also it has less armour. Their specialty is in demolishing buildings - take five or so artillery pieces and compare the time it takes to flatten the CY to the tanks' best time.

The limits on how much can be built are lame, as no reasonable base can be cracked in one assault wave - combined arms or not. This makes the game tedious. Also, the tech-trees are very long, and due to the resourece collection method, makes building early units a waste of money except to defend against early attacks, which are themselves feeble.

Also, the two sides are very similar, both in units and in appearance. Five or six small differences are not enough to separate the two sides in game terms.

Each side has only three average music tracks, and as a typical game/mission lasts several hours, you invariably end up switching it off.

The missions are good though, and the movies are rather nice.

Lastly, I highly doubt that the commercial version of this game is even *remotely* close to the version commissioned to train the US military; only the idea probably.

This was a reasonably nice game, but only just managed to be worth the £7.50 I paid for it ($10, or 10 Euros). Modding this game would really improve its gameplay value, especially against a non-AI.
