A new hope for Mankind's space future

Even as the lethargic United States have given up on Humanity's future, all hope is not lost. China aims for the Moon!

I really hope this sparks another space race. After all, the prospect of a Red Moon should be enough to get funds pouring back into NASA... heh heh heh. ;)

I can just see it...

"They are attacking us deliberately by sending their roc- ro- ro- What's that say? Their Chinese space-cars to the moon!" -DUBYA.

Good point. Sorry :-[ .

I think it's a good thing that China is going for it. That way there's less space to share and more likelihood of more than one nation being able to reach it. Roll on Japanese and [insert country] flights into space!

neato! I think its totally awesome and a great way to take in resources. It would be much cleaner too since its not on the earth.lol

"However, James Oberg, a space analyst and veteran of the US space program, believes the projects are more about national pride than scientific or industrial exploration. Nonetheless, he says the lunar missions are well within China's means."

Even if this is true, it shows that china at least cares about these issues. Maybe WE americans should feel the same towards space exploration. Instead we focus on other issues of less importance.

I think that the Chineese still have some economical problems, and

therefor it would be better to spend it elsewhere. Although a little

race wouldn't be so bad, 'cause it would push everything further much

faster.

Please don't... don't turn this into a politics topic!

This is about China's leap towards space, NOT about politics.

*Cough cough*

Even as the lethargic United States have given up on Humanity's future, all hope is not lost.

Okay, okay, sorry. :-

Can we get over that though? I just want to hear your opinions about the prospect of renewed space exploration.
