Personally, I didn't really like the LotR books. Overall, it had an interesting story, but it was too drawn out. Admittedly though, I'm not a huge fan of "classical" fantasy (i.e. elves, etc), although I'm a huge fan of mythologies and the Middle Ages, and I enjoyed Morrowind. Go figure. ;)

Anybody would need financial backing to produce a movie triolgy like LOTR. Ummmmm just what are you saying?

I found the LOTR books to be quite good, if you forget about all the kinda strained bits where he tries to describe how good the good guys are.

The movies were corny every now and then, and some of the changes they made were just plain bad. I liked them overall though.

Though I wouldnt go that far, the lord of the rings series is very good. It is extremely well written, very deep and expansive, and all around good fun. Some people may not like it because they dont like fantasy. I personally dont, its just that this is good writing and is the only fantasy book I have ever read or want to read.lol You can also dislike it because you dont like the story. You should respect it though. If you dont than you appear to be an ass to others.
