Drop Winzip and replace it with WinRAR.

[ consideing you run under Windows ::) ;D ]

- Norton advanced system works 2002

- Norton firewall and internet security, McAfee firewall [ consumer version not server or corporate, and I can recomend some others but that would go against my own privacy policy ]

- McAfee virusscan [ without the auto update-function turned "on" ] mayby another one buth usually one is enough.

- mayby Phil Zimmernamm's PGP, but that depends on your needs.

OS, if you have a "slower" or "older" computer, just run '95. It's old but you just need an OS and '95 usually works good. Mayby you'll need an extra service pack but I doubt that. But if you can handel it use Win2K or XP.

And ofcourse the applications you want, so lots of gamez or just office and database tools. Mayby even video editing but that's basically up to you.

:)

[ oh, and try to get American product's that arn't for export. They have higher safety and encryption, but do to government controled export laws they can't [ and you can't either ] export them. ]

Yea, that's right. I forgot the Opera webbrowser. :)

And if you don't like Opera, use Netscape or Mozilla. By the time you have read this and figured out that Miscosoft's Internet Explorer isn't with it they have probebly found another error in it . . . ::)

I use opera as a secondary to IE still. But it's faster.

Whats putty?

Whats DAP?

Drop WinRaR again and get WinZip 8.1 {Its a zip program}

It's Zone Alarm by the way. {You know}

Easy Cleaner {It cleans your registry. Don't have to format as often}

Hex WorkShop {Allows you to fix bugs in simple programs}

dRAMatic {cleans your RAM before you run a game}

AxMan {Allows you to break up files into smaller space for storage}

Windows XP {duh, gee, i wonder}

Note Tab Light {The best simple text editor aside from MSWord}

WinAce {A good archiver and zip program}

Opera Web Browser {explained}

etc.

I also add

GetRight {allows you to resume downloads}

Real Player {So you can listen to music whilst playing}

Pringles {To eat while playing}

mIRC {So you can chat here}

KaZaA {Download Music for realone}

Map Packer {So you can use maps from downloads.}

Actual Title Buttons {Allows you to pput programs into your system tray rather then clotting your task bar.}

Add/Remove Plus 2002 {Really good uninstaller}

Fresh Download {A very good download companion, but still testing it, it may be better then GetRight.}

Trillian {MSN YIM AOL ICQ IRC all in one}

Nap and Coffee {A program to make your screen look busy when you boss comes. ie, fake defrag, fake installation}

Hmmm, you guy's need a lot of programms . .. .

And Jacob, why do you need 2 programms with zip capebilety ?

Just a sugestion, but you might want to try Norton Systemworks [ mayby not even the advanced version ], it can handel a lot of features you have other programms for.

:)

ps. I can give you some nice way to "loose" your back-ups under Linux ;D

You might even like them ;)

The wonderful Icon

Actual Title Buttons

both do the same, top one is better and free, bottom one is a trial.

It lets you add things to the systray, so they don't clut up spce on your task bar. Like if you listen to music. Put realplayer into the bar. The top one lets you do heaps more like empty recycle bin, open progs etc.

MGI photosuite. Much better i recin.

Hmm, could be. The CT [ German computer magazine ] of last month had a special CD with small utils on it. They do that every year, and with the same utils ;D. Didn't look at the disk, it's still in the paper sealed bag. But there is a version of GIMP 1.2.3 on it. And they don't have a lot of Linux programms on it usually. It might be worth a look after all. :)
