Acriku
Why'd become a thatcherite? Sort of a turning away from communism but not towards democracy thing? Thatcherites don't help anything IMO...except the rich :P
nemafakei
I think he was a thatcherite first, then went to China... but I'm not sure.
emprworm
US could not and would not oppose China for many reasons, including its nuclear and military power and its productivity.please, china doesn't even have 1/10th the nukes the US has. they have no air force, and no navy. nampigai
but still I believe that in a few years China will outrun the US as the most powerfull economic nation.
emprworm
a few years eh? that is highly doubtful. china has a lot of internal issues to deal with, namely its lack of female citizens.
Acriku
Really? I didn't know think that they would increase that much over the years.
nampigai
yes hehe you have a point there emprworm, however from what I seen I believe that it wont be long, but that's just my little hypothese.
emprworm
maybe, but the per capita GDP of China is less than $5,000.00 the US is 36,000 i agree their economy has boomed over the last 10 years, but that is no reason to think it will continue. with every rise....there will be a fall. zamboe
Here is a taste of how evil is that blockade.A mexican company manufactures nails, it exports nails to several countries, which include Cuba. Cuba pays for those nails. At one time, a US steel company takes over this mexican company, and it becames it's branch, the nails are still being manufactured in Mexico. But now those nails cannot be exported/sold to Cuba, because under the Blockade laws, any US subsidiary no matter where it is cannot do business with Cuba. That's price of thinking different. How evil.

Edric O
So let me see, Emprworm, you're basically saying:"They've got to kiss our ass and lick our boots, otherwise we keep them starved and miserable."Way to go, 'land of the free'! ::)"We hold these truths to be self-evident... that all men are created equal, but we are more equal than others..." Dude_Doc
No really, why don't they import needles or whatever from another country then?
Edric O
Because the leader of that "other country" is afraid of what Big Brother Bush will do to him if he trades with Cuba.
Dude_Doc
Aha, so if Germany, Norway, Canada, Russia or even China starts to export needles to Cuba, it will be destroyed?
Edric O
Let's just say the US won't like it. And people that the US doesn't like have a tendency to suffer unfortunate accidents. Unless they are useful in nationalistic propaganda, like Hussein or Bin Laden.
Gobalopper
Doesn't Canada trade with Cuba? I don't see any bad things happening because of it.
zamboe
Yes, Canada and Mexico both trade with Cuba, but very limited, since in most of the Canadian and Mexican companies there is some % of the share of US companies, so they could trade, but they dont since it would mean inmediately santions to the US branches of those Canadian and Mexican companies. The blockade was increased during the negotiations of the NAFTA too, puting some limitations to Canada and Mexico.
