Someone from a C&C site asked me about Emperor as they hadn't played it and what it was like with respects to cheating and the game in general. This is what I replied back with, thought some people might find it interesting to read... something like a recap on Emperor I guess.

Right now there is no one left from Westwood who worked in any major way on Emperor, there wasn't many to begin with, but the big two are gone. Chris Longpre and Cliff Hicks were laid off after Renegade was released and they were the people who we normally talked with.

Most of Emperor's coding was done by IG but the contract they have with WW doesn't allow them to comment/work on Emperor unless WW gives the ok and it has been a year now since WW stopped supporting the game.

Once Cliff started working on Renegade we pretty much lost WW's interest and after he left it was non-existent. Right now there aren't many people left playing regularly in QM or BC. There really isn't much wrong with the game, it just never got much in the way of advertising and the WOL interface is probably the worst of all WW games.

As for bugs there are pathfinding problems and a few gameplay bugs that allow people to hide units on the edge of the map so they can't be hit. There is a newer bug that only a few people know about that allows you to hit a building from anywhere on the map but since it is not well known it isn't abused. I know the first bug was a known bug during development that was just never fixed and I think the second was known as well but I haven't comfirmed that yet.

The community is fairly close but there are still problems with cheating. Ever since Chojin left there doesn't seem to be much done with the ladders which annoys some people. For the most part cheating is done by people using multiple nicknames to boost their rank. There has been claims of money trainers and such but never any solid proof. I think if we had the ability to run our own ladders, like what has been proposed with Generals, people would be happier as WW doesn't do anything now.

So I wouldn't say they have patched all the bugs, far from it, but for a game they say didn't sell very well they have done a fairly good job. I think the biggest complaint would be they never put enough effort into promoting the game and gave up on it to quickly.

I read somewhere that they are planning to support Generals 18 months, 24/7..

I don't think there is much chance of the community growing at this point Vilgent. I was just pointing out the problems with Emperor, hopefully WW won't make the same mistakes again.

Well Vilgent Im sure you could contact them and give him your personal fellings on Emp but I think Gob said it about all. But then again from what Gob said he was curious of the cheating online and game in general... not Gobs personal opinon. Why would you care what happens to Emp anyway I thought you were trying to break up all the clans, or was that just FEW ^-^

Not even worth saying something new, I'll just quote something I alrdy said:

I never had a 'plot' against FEW, I LEFT FEW because some FEW guy started a rumor that I rejoined Bilbo, which I didn't, then when I left and learned of this I started yellin the hell at Pro because a few of my friends in FEW said he started it, but I never had a plan to crumble FEW, I could never do that considering the clan is united to much, besides ATRS is dead, I would never try something as stupid as tryin to kill FEW just to get members. As I said I never had a plot against FEW, that would be like taking down House Corrino with a slingshot , anyways, I got SO fuckin pissed at proc because I tought he started that rumor, and for him to say I was goin back to Bilbo was the biggest insult anyone could dish out to me.

Well Im not sure what your talking about but I'm refering to the pics that you took under your FEW Jr nick. So why was it that you joined FEW Jr under a different nick?

And I think it was Bilbo that warned Proc cause he didnt think youd do it. And Proc also said something about you confirming that Bilbo asked you to do it... but you just decided to join for the heck of it... no plans for anything just for the love of the game. ^-^

After Dark me and Bilbo became enemys. I took the pics because I was always suspious of FEW cheating, but since there wasn't hardcore proof I didn't really care. But once I found that out, I had to quit and post those, got sick of being associated with cheaters because I was in FEW and now can you plz just close this thread or can you just shut up because you have NO IDEA what your saying Dj.

And as far as being assoc with cheaters then why did you join the Dark clan (or whatever hobbtz moved too) and try to fool me with the name DarkAtr (sp?) you paged me directly agter sigin off as Vil with the dark name and actec like you were being tought by Vilgent (yourself) and wanted to be tested for FEW. You tried to get me to tell Pro to play you. Yes I do agree this thread does need to be locked... you dont know what your doing... who are you Vilgent vils brother? someone compleatly dfferent? so did you decide on this name for the forum or are you gonna switch back to the vilgent one? (unless Gob deleted it) or are you still pretending to be your brother? ^-^

Wait a minuet!! I thought you didnt go back to bilbo after FEW... (I didnt say it you brought it up) now your saying after FEW you need a clan and joined bilbo in Dark clan? What's The Story Morning Glory? Im sure we dont know the whole story just what was found out. Bilbo admited to Pro he tried to get you to set us up. You left cause you felt we all knew you were conspiring but denied any plot of it, but according to Pro you did admit to him but told him you werent going to do it for Bilbo. Then after leaving FEW (and joing DARK... your words) You this time join FEW Jr. So there is bound to be way more to the story but... no one cares ^-^

Gob said it just like it is. Those of us who have been here from Day 1 know the truth. Emperor never had a chance. Generals will be supported extremely well as long as the game is selling and EA doesn't come out with a new, better project. It's the nature of the business--whatever sells gets the support. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Emperor never squeaked enough for Westwood to hear it. Generals won't just squeak, it'll roar--at least for awhile. If sales continue, it'll keep on roaring. At least Generals will have the chance Emperor was never given.

You get a group of ppl in a circle or line whatever put the person on one end starts with a phrase like:

"Gob is the coolest mod" and but the time its reached the last person its now "Gob has the cooties bad" ^-^

Just look at the ads for Generals to compare the hype. You have four full pages of ads for Generals in a number of magazines months before release where Emperor got a total of four one page ads in a couple magazines. It's upto WW on how they advertise and promote their games but if they had gotten behind Emperor before and after release I think it could have done a lot better then it ended up doing.

Even now if they advertise it with it coming back out as a classic it could take off... Someone posted on here they saw it in the new package for $5 US. I thin kit would be funny if the repackaged Emp sold more than the new release of Generals ^-^ Not everyone has a suped up PC to play Generals on... is everyonegonna go upgrade their PC just to play it? Heck just by the game that paved the way for Generals... you know what I'm talking about its a mean motherfu.... *shut your mouth* I'm just talking about EmpBFD ;)
