Ace is the Man

This is an Acelethal shrine post. Tonight, Ace did a big favor for me. My 10-year-old son David was playing Emp, and he saw one of Ace's nicks on the game set-up list. He asked, "Who is [Ace's nick]?" I told him it was Ace. He immediately wanted to play against Ace because I've told him that Ace is one of the best players ever and that he has taught me some great lessons. Because neither I nor my son has any chance against someone that good, I told him to ask for a lesson. Ace then took about 45 minutes of his valuable game time teaching my son step by step how to play with my son's favorite house, Harkonnen, vs. another Harkonnen player. My son thought the lesson was great. I watched from time to time, but I wouldn't tell my son anything because I wanted him to pay attention to the lesson and listen like he should do more often in school. I caught a key point in the lesson that I had never figured out before. Awesome!!! I've never, ever done that move in a game. So simple, yet I never figured it out before. Ace led my son through the entire game and even let him win. When the score came up after the game, I told my son, "See that? You may never see that again--you stomping on Acelethal."

Anyway, that's enough for this post. Thanks again, Ace. Next time, please teach my son how to play that well with Atreides! LOL.

I'm not telling any of Ace's secrets without permission. If he wanted everyone to know, he'd open up shop and sell them for a nice profit. Same goes for the other great Emperor players. Earedil also shared some secrets with me.

Just a hint, though: what Ace taught my son and me is right there under your noses when you buy the game, read the manual, and experiment.

w00t w00t for ace! ;) Ace never taught me anything though! I am a 100% seld-taught empy player (or was, when I still played it) Ace did teach me one thing though... that after he's played you a few times, he knows every damn trick in your play book. He's definitely got some cheek ;D

in just a few days, I am going to spill all. Every single secret I know of (except exploit bugs) will be dumped on my site. I'm about half way done with all the programming. Because there is so much. I am leaving nothing to secret. If I have ever seen it done- no matter who you are- and I liked it, I am telling it. Everything I figured out and developed- all the BO's and tactics I am sharing openly with all.

that kinda takes away from the mystifying part of the more elite players. now if someone pulls some trick on you, you'll know it right away. it's like giving away the secret to a magic trick. but i suppose that is good for the newer players to work off of.

i have heard of this cheat before, however, since I never play clan or QM, I cannot confirm that it really exists as something a player can do repeatedly. My understanding of the "DC" cheat is that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't however I do not have any idea how it is done. If I did know how it is done, I would not share it anyway, since I already told everyone that I am not going to share any bugs or exploits. And who is hobbtz? You mean that old ancient clan that used to play online almost a year ago? I wouldnt speak of that old clan in any present tense verbs, unless someone has actually seen them?

three cheers for you, hobbtz is like a distant dream to me. horrible memories, yes. but they are just that, memories. and i know how you feel about bcm's and qm's. i haven't played a bcm in a good while and the same goes for qm's. i tend to stick to the deathmatches.

Emprworm, I and many others look forward with great anticipation for your next site update. There is nothing wrong with telling all you know, if it's what YOU know, not someone else's idea, AND you want it shared. I can't spill anyone else's beans unless they want it done, but if you'll kindly spill yours, we'll all greatly appreciate it! Besides, what could be better for Emperor than better competition? I'm not one of the best Emperor players, but I still win most of my games against inferior competition. It would be just fine with me to lose more often, though, and learn something in the process, rather than just stomp on someone even worse than I.

Taq, I would not share someone else's tactics unless they gave me permission. HOWEVER, since I learned this game by playing people better than me, when I see things done to me and I can figure out what my opponent is doing, then I'm going to share that knowledge with others. Things I do not share on my site are specific things people told me or showed me in confidence. But if you did it against me, I am an excellent observer, I will learn it, apply it, and then share it. That is how I learned this game. I took what I saw others did to me, developed it into my own flavors and now bring it to others. The next update IS massive. I am putting a ton of stuff into it
