Ghosty_Square Posted October 12, 2002 Author Posted October 12, 2002 Then explain me why is there a so big difference between humans and animals. We 're not just the smartest animals that developped.
Acriku Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 Actually, we are the smartest. You don't see dolphins or gorillas making theories and laws about physics do you? In the early stages, chimpanzees develop their brain at a higher rate than human babies. But, the development of baby chimpanzees stops at one point, and the human baby development continues for a long time. And, we are different due to random mutations at the very beginning rungs of the ladder of life. The mutations change the early organisms at their basic level and become very different to the point where they can't produce with eachother. They migrate to places where they survive better, then they adapt differently and at different ratesto their environment, and so on, and so on, and then on the higher rungs we have such diverse organisms. And that is from being in an AP biology class (not yet half way through the book), imagine what professional biologists know. But some animals have very similar DNA with us, e.g. chimps, because they evolved supposedly from the same organism that we did - on one of the early-mid rungs.
Ghosty_Square Posted October 12, 2002 Author Posted October 12, 2002 Perhaps you didn't get my point or I didn't get yours.I didn't say we 're not smarter than them. I said we 're not just smarter than them.
Anathema Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 In any intelligence test we have an advantage- namely, we made them. However, whales have a larger brain mass then humans.
Acriku Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 Doesn't mean they use more earth...even if they did doesn't mean their's are more developed.I guess we have confusion on the table Ghost, sorry for that.
Anathema Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 There is a theory that whales do have sophisticated linguistics...but whales never got to learn like we do- for example, whales can't use tools because they don't have hands.
Ghosty_Square Posted October 12, 2002 Author Posted October 12, 2002 Correct me if I 'm wrong, but I think whales can produce a smaller number of different sounds than humans.
Anathema Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 Wouldn't know about that. But that doesn't mean they can't communicate.
Ghosty_Square Posted October 12, 2002 Author Posted October 12, 2002 Don't put words into my mouth.Anyway, I think this debate is endless. I 'll leave now.
Apollyon Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 Correct me if I 'm wrong, but I think whales can produce a smaller number of different sounds than humans.indeed a small amount of communication is vocal, even in humans.
Apollyon Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 these topics are useless as they never solve anything and just degenerate into ppl who believe in god saying its just faith and of course u cant beat that if the person involved doesnt want to listen. yep*sigh* ::)
AWACS Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 I am no religion, and the Star Wars signiture guy, surly the Jedi is a religion so anything about that is religious, so you don't like what you put in your, Ow my head hurts.Anyway I don't belive ,coz i have not seen the light yet my entire family seems to have, but i feel if you want to belive then belive, if not don't and don't bother any religious people, Its like if your american some say they are the Yankee Fat stereotype, and English(which I am) I have seen many films (to which i belive are true) that we are "Upper class", toffee nosed types with a "proper accent"
