Sardauker-Kirov
Its just like a Cruel king and his People. The people belief that their king can bring them enlightment and Power. The harkonnen follow this i think. They all know that the Planet will fall apart if they dont have a baron.
Nefud
Or think about the ways of a Communist Party in power! They keep running everything with the help of their army and the secret agencies.... (Sadly every Eastern Euroean ex-socialist country knows the ways of the communists when solving a problem... :( )
Alexander_Ordos
The communism is based on dictature + strong army... Soviets fell apart because people didn't like it ( Afganistan, Chechnya) BUT the Harkos seem to like the whole thing... exept da vilagers... Population of Giedi Prime:1. Baron2. Military3. villagers
Nefud
The Soviet Union didn't fell apart because the people didn't like it. It fell apart because Gorbachov (or I don't know the spelling of his name in Eng.) intented to reform his empire. But you cannot reform a total dictature...I don't want to start a political fight about the SU. All the countries in Eastern-Europe know what happened and I don't wish the same to anyone else...Alex: what do you mean? What is this population-thing?
Alexander_Ordos
I mean there'r only 3 ranks of people or maybe even 2:1.Military2.Villagers3. Slaves (maybe)When Caladan population'd be:1.Nobles2.Merchants3. Fishermen4. Villagers5. Some militaryDo you see the difference? ;)Soviets fell apart because people didn't like it ( especialy Lithuanians (yes I live there)) so they wanted to disconect from the Soviet union, but then Gorbachov sent tanks to Vilnius (capital) so he didn't allow them to disconect... Then more countries disconected : Estonia, Latvia etc... The Russian military was weak from war in Afganistan... They lost about 10% of theyr teritory... Gorbachov had to give it up... 8)

Alexander_Ordos
Why offtopic? We discuss how the Soviets unite their people... Ok any other suggestions on how to unite your folk? ::)
IxianMace
I know this comes really late, but you've got it a little inaccurate Jacob. This is how it should be."Fear, is an efficient tool of management".(Seen the movie where you fail? I failed on purpose just to see what would happen. It's quite funny actually.) ;D
