Future of the DUNE Name

Where do you guys believe the future of "Dune" lies?

Personally, I believe the production of the Miniseries has opened a great new avenue for more games to come, it gives companies one more license to grab.  Cryo has already taken advantage of this by producing Dune Generations based on the miniseries.

I think Firaxis (Sid Meier's company) could make a really awesome turn-based Dune game of some sort.

Kull wahad. It would be grrrrreat if Sid Meier would make a turn based Dune game similar to civIII. I've been trying to make a scenario for civII but it's too huge a project so I threw it away. Also we need more 1st person games with Dune titles.

Shaddam good to see you on the boards again. With DG in the works and the Dune mini-series on the Sci-Fic Channel I think the future of the Dune name looks to be very promising. I would be rather good to see Firaxis do a turn-based game but could something like that really happen? I mean what are the chances that they would even be interested?

Thanks for the welcome Fedaykin, about Sid Meier's interest in Dune:

At the very back of the Alpha Centauri instruction book he lists all the books that inspired him in making the game, 2 of Frank Herbert's works are listed (Dune is one).

If Sid could only get a license ;)

I honestly would not be surprised if, in a couple years, the Sci-Fi channel announced their new, original production Dune: Jihad.  A television series set during Paul's Jihad, with each season focusing on another house or anti-jihad force during this period.

Yeah if Sid Meier could only get a license. Hey Sid if you are out there......... Mahdi that could be a good idea but the only thing I see is that after about maybe the second season the whole thing turns into garbage. (IMO) If a production like that were to be made I would hope that it would be limited to a certain number of seasons you know as to remain it's integrity to the Dune that Frank Herbert built (if you understand what I'm saying).

I'm hoping for more books, dealing with things outside of mainstream Dune, some books on other Great and Minor houses and their ordeals with Leto II, etc. Maybe by some different authors... although Brian and Kevin are doing excellent.
