Esper?

Greek 'hesper' - evening

Spanish 'esperar' - to wait

Aeon is from greek, I think - but I can't seem to find a reference in the lexicon.

Eidolon? Where are you getting these from?

Eidolon is greek for shape / image / spectre / phantom / idea / idol

He is from ancient times (Mesopotamia) about 2700 BC, Gilgamesh was the King of Uruk in Babylonia on the river Euphrates (modern Iraq). Many Sumerian stories were written about Gilgamesh, also in Akkadian (a Semitic language spoken by the Babylonians), Hurrian and Hittite. There are twelve stone tablets, written in the Akkadian language and were housed at the library of Ashurbanipal, an Assyrian king 669-633 B.C., at Nineveh. Persians attacked and destroyed the library in 612 B.C. damaging all the tablets.

Gilgamesh according to the tablets was "two-thirds (2/3) god and one-third (1/3) human." Gilagamesh is (or was at the time) the greatest king on earth and the strongest super-human that ever existed. He was not very good on human relations though because he oppressed his people harshly. The sky-god Anu hears the people as they cry out to him, being the chief god of the city, Anu responses by creating a rival. This rival, a brute named Enkidu, is subhuman.

The following was just from one of the twelve tablets (not word for word just brief introduction) that contains the stories about Gilgamesh and the legends that accrue around him. The entire text is The Epic of Gilgamesh, trans. by Maureen Gallery Kovacs (Stanford: Stanford university Press, 1990), or Gilgamesh, translated by John Maier and John Gardner (New York: Vintage, 1981). Also for you internet freaks find a search engine and educate yourself on the subject. Now my comrade Nema Fakei will explain Ramuh.

Ramuh and ifrit are hindu gods and demons. Aeons are actually not time. Confused with eons. sometimes people use Aeon but Aeon actually means a focused conciousness of the universe. or a being from the powers of the universe

Interesting TMA_1 we must talk more on it sometime later. Yes Acriku is right but I enjoying talking to those who like to learn from another.

Well anyway I thought the word Zanteksuken (Ramuh and Ifrit) looked familiar you've been playing FF VIII or whichever number of the series. That would be the sword of Odin.

As for Masume he was a famous (Japanese) swordsmith who one day had a contest with another swordsmith named Muramasa. The contest as you have guessed was to see who could make the better sword. When the swordsmiths were done making their individual swords they set out to test each one to see which one was the better of the two. Muramasa as a test for the swords put his in a stream upright letting dead leaves drift against the edge of the sword cutting them neatly in two halves. Masume did the same but the leaves passed on each side of the swords blade unhurt, therefore his sword was considered the superior of the two because it was thought to have spiritual and/or mystical powers.

In Japanese history, swords were thought to have powers and lives of their own. There is a myth about the creation of swords. The Sun-Goddess, Amaterasu Omikami is said to have given her grandson, Ninigi-no Mikoto, a sword when he was sent to regin on earth. The swordsmith was of an honored class. The belief was that only those of the purest heart and highest moral standard could acheive master swordsmith. Swordsmiths approached their task with great solemnity, in doing so the feudal lords respected the swordsmiths highly. What warrior wants their sword to break during battle or lose it's edge and not be able to cut through armor , hack off limbs and heads as a good sword was expected.

Yes, I have been playing final fantasys, and VIII doesn't have Ramuh. But that was not why I asked. Anyways.

Thanx for that info on Masume.

And TMA_1, thanks for that Aeons thing, it sounds a lot better suited than periods of time. Thank you.

Ramuh and ifrit are hindu gods and demons.

In all my searching I can not find any information about these two (Ramuh and Ifrit) outside of Final Fantasy. I am familiar with Rahula but that is a protector of Buddhism.
