I don't think anime should have it's own category, it should be under animated or cartoon. And I know porn is a big part of Japanese society, or atleast where my friends have been in the city. But it is my opinion that the hentai that Japan has is most of the time disgusting and horrible. It would be sad times if most of the people's fantasies included taking innocent-looking school girls and raping them with aliens that have penises for tentacles. My point is that that is the bottom of the barrel, down there with kiddie porn.

compare that to almost any other form of pornography and of course the opposite is true

and also it must be named as its own category as its just as popular in Japan as movies are there and thus is deserving of such a position. Also the numerous different forms in which anime can be seen warrants this
