Practice/Online AI - Posibility to improve it!

Ok, I just found a video of a dune mod some time ago. The mod enables instant build and no costs (which is pretty.. so so in my opinion) but there was a very interesting function there: the AI built 3-4 barrackses and 3 factories (thats how much i was able to see because game crashed from too many units). I asked the creator how did he do that, and he told me that the answer is in HERE. (he just said to read that, not gave the direct answer)

For me, this thing is imposible , as I'm not a programmer, but if mvi & others are still around here, have a look!

do you have contact with mod author?

Just on YouTube but doesnt seem that he is very active, i asked him half year ago and got response very very late.

That's quite an unhelpful answer of his. It's definitely technically possible to do. However there's no one active on these forums that can do it. CCHyper lost his Dune 2000 disassembly files and it's no longer possible for me to work on modding Dune (for a whole bunch of different reasons). Unless someone new comes along with experience at reverse engineering executables I don't see any progress towards this.

Well too bad that Nyerguds doesnt seem to be interested in dune2000 at all, he did awesome job for C&C 1 and Dune 2.

Losing MVI from the Dune2000 engineering is like losing the heart of a body. But everything said, Cant blame you MVI, we all have things in our lives that keeps us pre-occupied. I try to come on time and time to keep things going, but like you said, its difficult to get around to. How ever I love this game and this community, so im gonna stick around.

Its funny I was actually talking with him a few weeks ago when I was modding Dune2 as well. Maybe ill mention it to him, see if he is interested.

I didnt mean just the campaign, I meant for everything. The skirmish AI as well as the specific coded AI for campaign. I would love to be able to see what each of the segments do

i analyzed practice mis file for skirmish , found notthing useful to modify there must be some kind of filter that prevent make in skirmish already constructed bases.

the ai for practice must be stored in dune2000.mis as there are references to orders for ai to build things all is hard coded so no way to modify, only reverse engineering would help, but noone can do that now., we do not have exac values for skirmish ai to modify .

i have try put campagin ai and campagi maps to skirmish and rename to orginal maps and try play - notthing howeewer ai was doing notthing just deploy mcv and sitting like duck.

well lets say basic ai does build this , wind trap,refinery,wind trap,barracks,wind trap turret , silo , refinery , windtrap , heavy factory , outpost , high tech , light factory , wind trap rocket turret refinery x research center and so on. (dont know exacly but i watched ai build base)

i have noticed that practice ai has in short moment lack of power (after placing ix research center and thri d refinery)

i continue digging in, and noted that ai is doing "dumbfire" attacks. it does not calculate how much he neeed army to crush you. unit capacity then probably value is set to specific for action.

Westwood (and later on EA games) never was good with AI. They just put in a series of attacks. I don't call this AI.

I have noticed "6" different ways of play by the "AI" in the single player missions. Talking about dune2000.

- Same army every time. The fast ones arrive first,... how lame.

- Same army every time, but then larger and larger over time.

- Air strike or Death Hand on your most important structure. The saboteur aims for the closest one?

- At some spice fields, there are (re)placed guards.

- Some might ask, what about attacking from different sides? Well, in dune2000 the bases are located on different sides as well.

- And if there is just 1 base, the units might split up at a junction, 1 way leading to north, and the other one to east.

1, 2 and 3 are obvious in both skirmish and single player missions.

4 comes closest to AI, but is only in single player missions.

5 and 6 are (planned) accidents regarding the map.

So dune 2000 actually has an AI file for this? I thought it was hard coded.

Well i'm no einstein but if someone can actually edit the ai it would be great. Make it more d2 like. I heard it's ai was better but didn work due to westwood's foolishness in map making.
