Dune 2 Makes Another Top 5 List

Dune 2, the grandpappy of all RTS games, has made MSNBC's list of the Top 5 Strategy Games.  However, it somehow missed the cut on MSNBC's list of the Top 5 Real Time Strategy Games as another Westwood game took its place.

Their evaluation of the original Command & Conquer is factually incorrect:

Actually, C&C did not feature technology research - the C&C franchise never featured tech research until Generals, in fact - and the C&C "hero unit", the commando, didn't have any special powers or abilities.

Really?  If Stefan could confirm this we should e-mail them letting them know, so he (and FED2k) get a mention on msnbc.

I bet they just googled dune 2 and we popped up, and they downloaded super dune 2 by mistake....

Actually, C&C did not feature technology research - the C&C franchise never featured tech research until Generals, in fact - and the C&C "hero unit", the commando, didn't have any special powers or abilities.

The Commando's got C4 explosives :) But he's not a hero unit anyway, since Commandos can be normally built in multiplayer. The proper heroes (unique, unbuildable units) first appeared in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans (Lothar, Medivh, Garona, Griselda).
