Procyon
What I said: y PC restarts with no a logicall explanation. I'm reading a web page or word doc, and flop!, it resets, as I would have pressed the reset button. I haven't used this pc in months, so my family hasn't made repairs or maintenance to the pc. I noticed that this problems happen when the Computer is connected to internet.Only 2 programs have been instaled since my last use; Kapersky anti-hacker and Google Earth. GhostHunter
Worm.Your PC is getting eaten alive.Basically, you have to make sure Windows Update is to the latest security protocol, and then scan your system with Norton, AVG (though I'm doubtful the free version'll get it), or another anti-virus application and rid yourself of it. erjin999
Easy to test the CPU overheat issue. Do something CPU intensive (when CPU overheats, it usually doesn
Cyborg
I don't think it's an overheating CPU or faulty memory.I think it is malicious software or other software related problems.Perhaps a complete system reinstall could fix it?
Andrew
Hmm, well to see if it is CPU overheating or faulty memory, you could always try the ubuntu live cd. Running that could generate enough heat, and it also has a memory test option at boot up.
Cyborg
Faulty memory will in the vast majority of cases lead to disability to boot altogether. You can still run some memory diagnosis programs for the fun of it, though.About the overheat issue: Check if the cpu cooler is full of dust. If it is, vacuum clean it. If it isn't, your cpu won't overheat if it didn't use to from the very beginning.
