well. i still think  its nessary to use the nocd patch  because sooner or later the game cd will be currupted and its  very rar to find a new copy... and i still insist that it never happen in  skermish so it had no effect at all its just the sun of my syster  wanted to try a campain and it started to happen not very often. in about 10 missions it happend twice. i completed  a full campain

without the nocd patch and it didnt happen at all.anyway am still using the no cd patch i playe skermish and on line and i didnt have a single crach.so i was actuly pin pointing the nocd patch

since it actuly  over write that particular  exe icon..  haw about this nunu...? what do u think

I never get the "game.exe has caused a fault.." on single player. I sometimes get it when online. I hardly ever play LAN.

I have used the NoCD patch fro mthe beginning and recommend it to everyone who will listen.

From what you are saying, your computer doesnt crash on single player skirmish, but a litle bit online, is that correct ?

Unfortunately, as I havent tried it with the CD, I cannot say how well behaved it is without the NoCD, butI guess it is very possible it is causing the crashes.

But for me, even if it is causing the game.exe errors, I cant live without the convenience of it. Plus, its much less then 20% of my games. I think it might be about 2-5%...

no no i said it never happen on a single map  game , skirmish or multy playe. i said it happen in campain games coz maybe i think  the game needs the cds for a coz  in the camapin whitch it dont need  it in  single map games.

Ah sorry. Thats clearer now. I was at work and stressed ( so stressed I was checking out dune2k :P). I will very quickly check out campaign for you, as soon as I can, but havent really done campaign since I installed it (reinstalled it about a year ago).

But I do believe it does work reliably with NoCD.

uhh, yea theres a few things on the disc(s) that the game needs, speech music etc

so it might be looking for that(campaign mode) but there was a ini file that u could modify to get it to work bare bones..

also can i ask why any of you are using a crack?

i mean a modified exe can lead to problems..especially with handshake failures

well ,once i tried that crack on wol years ago b4 my mate lost the cdkey

and it never ever worked..possibly because of anti cheat checks etc..

a modded exe back then could of looked like a trainer..

maybe try this for an idea..make an image of the discs. and use daemon tools to mount them.

that way u wont be missing anything it might need..add to that u wont damage ur rare as discs :]

oh btw use clone cd..and be prepared to wait a long long time for it to get over the protection.

but i assure u it works.. uhh  provided u've  got the hdd space for it :

also while im on this subject..again years ago i never got these problems with game.exe crashes etc

although im not sure about the backspace thing...its possible that al those ppl who use cracks etc

while some dont might be causing a bit of a mismatch??  add to that theres different languages and different programmers make different cracks with different code and different ways to get the game to do something it shouldnt..

im no guru on programming etc..but i do believe that those 'cracks' arent very optimised or without problems of theyre own..i mean they ARE hacks arent they?

while some use and recommend them..i would morely recommend using the image(s),that way nothing is changed from its original state when it was released....the way it was intended

do you playe campain games? olso i said it dosnt happen a lot  just i noticed that some guys at the tec board had same problem as me and speacialy doom who make a copy for his friend (using the crack cd offcorce) well no need to test  it nunu i am doing a harck campain for a couple of dayes and i didnt have any craches but if u feel like it its a good practice 

not: i am sure and positive it never ever happend on a single game map not even once. i had it happing 3 times in one  hour  of a campain game  so u dont have to be smart to make a relation

Ah, so thats how you were able to make the relation ;)

ok, I guess it causes it to crash, but is it always at the same spot or intermittent ? If its the same spot you can assume its looking for something the NoCD doesnt have. If its intermittent its probably a scenario occuring which the modified NoCD cannot handle.

Just remove the NoCD IF it is a problem that causes a lot of trouble ( not necessarily saying this to you, spiceman, but generally to anyone who gets this) and replace the original exe.

well its random, it can happen at anytime but not often. it dosnt realy effect game playe since u can have complete missons with out it, i dont think am willing to give up the great nocd patch

and to get my dear  harkonen  cd out of the box
