EA response to WOL Server

Since I know some of you liked to still onto WOL and find new people I figured I would just post the response I got from EA which I recieved last week but never checked my mail :P.

Thank you for contacting EA technical support. I am sorry that you are having difficulty.

In order to focus on new projects like Generals and such we have diverted resources away from the Westwood Online servers. However, instead of turning the servers off, we have left them in an as-is state. Ladders, clans, and player banning is no longer being supported. We realize this may cause an inconvenience to some. If you have been banned we encourage you to create a new account using a new email address.

To create an account for Westwood Online:

1. Double click on My Computer, then the C drive.

2. Select Westwood Games, then Internet.

3. Double click on Register and you will want the first selection, filling in your email and date of birth.

Thank you for your years of support. The decision to do this has taken a long hard road. You can still connect online through various public match-making servers, www.gamespy.com is one good example.

Well veK i think you have a right i do what they say and it dont function  :( So if there is somebody who have more luck in that tell me pleas what i must do. Pleas  :)

They are saying they set the servers running and will not bother doing anything to them again, no maintenance, nothing. Let them die a natuaral death. They are not actually acknowleging the fact that the servers are down.

But shurely they can send some idiot down to the server and hit the nice small "Reset" button !

Bonkers. Even a messeage on a server that says that they can check out dune2k.com...that would be better then washing their hands of the server.

I AM cool. Actually I don't even care about WOL, I was there one time to test EBFD as it didn't work on XWIS and worked on WOL. I don't care about WOL as long as there is XWIS but I don't like the EA's attitude because they only think about money-making. Take a look at other companies who support their games even after years. Of course most of them are more alive than EBFD (NO, I AM NOT SAYING EBFD IS DEAD), I man: have more active players, a bigger community. But EA don't even think about the fact that a game is mostly only played by many people as long as there is support for these games, improvements, expansion-packs or whatever and EA never think about this. Other companies do so. And that's why I wrote the "translation". There are players who still wanna play on WOL and not only EBFD but also other older games. And as long as the costs for the technical support to keep these server running aren't very high they should do so.

I'm working as an advertising salesman and most of the companies know that it's also important to achieve such goals as a satisfied and happy community because they will rather buy a new product/release than an angry group. EA never figured this out the last few years.

Hi all  :) Well i dont want play on WOL i want play here on Xwis. On Wol i onli want find new guys or girls to play whit us. Or they now go on Xwis automatically i have mess i that can somebody tell me.  :'( But it is not bad idea merge WOL servers whit Xwis servers. And every new players go right here. And see our super community in action.

I agree, I read it and didnt find anything objectionable. Cant really remember it now, except you were talking about EA being like Microsoft and only caring about money. Nothing wrong with that.

Although I dont have enough experience with EA to say I have seen this as a pattern with them.

I thought that post was an angry post exagerating just about everything, i think if you want to say something about EA, don't do it like that.
