Some info for a complete newbie

Hi, my name is Alex, and i'm new here :)

I never played Emperor:Battle for Dune online, and i got really excited when i found this site (shame ea/westwood doesn't host the game any more  :- ).

Naturally the first thing i did was read all the instructions i could find relevent on this message board, and i followed all the instructions, but i still can't quite get it working. I keep having problems with the servers, which seem to be down? whats wrong (i did use XWISC, tried all three servers recommended on the boards)...

Describe in detail the results of trying to connect. What does it say ? Do you get Invalid Serial ? Error Connecting ?

At what point does it fail ? What does the XWISC Tool say when you click the test button ?

Then we can help a bit more, hopefully.  ;)

Hello and welcome, M, well you have stumbled across a good community here, and I am sure we can get you up and running, So first the basics.

Did you install the game with the install fix? You can find it on this site.

Did you upgrade the game to version 1.09? The Patch is available on this site.

Did you disable Norton anti virus, If you are running it? Emporor doesn't get along well with it.

Did you disable any software firewalls you are running? I leave my hardware firewall on and so far no problems.

Did you use the newest XWIS connection tool?

Do you have a legitimate copy of emperor? XWIS checks serial #'s (You dont need to regester, just sign on with your nik. Up to 3 niks per serial. More than that and you won't be able to sign on with the fourth nik.

So tell us a little more about whatever error messages you are getting, so we can help you.

hope you get your system working.. Emperor is a fun game... i am just preocuppied with EVE: Online at the moment.  The best MMORPG there is.

i have a advise to it dude:

1ST get a msn(messeger program microsoft),

2st get my msn mflavio@brturbo.com and talk with me directly cuz i will try to help u maybe u be using a wrong xwisc or u dont have any dll u can come to need.

i had problem cuz to 1 dll. i did not have on my computer maybe be it !

i m sure i will help u a lot and i will can to have kalony and nunuerj help hehe to over with that problem! ;D

Omg your English sucks, Muds, for someone based in England !  :P Youko I can understand...well, I cant, but I can understand the reason for not understanding.  ;D

Anyway, this is not a thread about Emperor dying or not (although we havent had one of those for soooo long, maybe someone should start one up ?  ::)).

M_Alex, the best thing you could do is get MSN Messenger (or Windows Messenger if you got XP) and add me, and I can try to help you get past your problems. erjin999@hotmail.com.

coz if u do then u know it anit dying coz its at WoL not at xwis.im at WoL every sundays trying to recruit n00bs.

If emp was dying that would me there would not even be a dune2k site to to help it survive. As long as this site is up and running 24/7 then there is no mention of dying.and i have alredy got 2 ppl from WoL to xwis. and I will continue to do so. Capish! ???

I just played a few games on WOL. :) It's not dead yeah.

serers then that can only mean that at the time all three servers were down.but they are up and running again. so hope to see you online man. 8)

One Post wonder sure thing, but the info you supplied me with helped me get the game going in online mode :-)

Anyway, not sure if i will be playing it any longer for an ammount of reasons (got a phd to write, etc), but i hope this community is still alive. Just reclaimed my old password, after that one-post-wonder thing ;)
