i have something on my computer that i cant delete..l everytime i turn on my computer a message pops up saying a program failed to start or run or something similar.  Im not sure if its a program installed maybe by spyware or if i just uninstalled something wrong and it didnt delete all its related files, and now its trying to run and cant due to files not being there anymore? i located the file name from a computer search and its in my system32 file... but if i try and delete it and all of its little children files (don know what they are called) it says i cant delete it... but i can delete the files under it, however they just come back... i don have a clue where i got this... maybe from a demo i installed for some game ... dunno. i have adaware and ive run it several times but it doesnt clean it.

which programm are we talking about here ?

If you are not shure your event logs should give the name of the program that has failed to load.

i did a check for viruses and it did find 1... which, if i remember right... it called it spyware... but it could not repair or remove it...

gryphon: what do you mean which program are we talking about? the adaware program i use or...? if its the adaware program i use lavasoft adaware 6.0...

i have something on my computer that i cant delete.

the something you are refering to. . . .

the fact that it's before you login to windows would suggest it's a Windows service that doesn't load. Your event viewer will have a note of that so you can easy find the service that doesn't load.

So it would say it's a system service, and not spyware ...

sorry i didnt mean to make it sound like it was before i loged on to windows... it is after windows starts running and the desktop comes up, it pops up... the file is called cdengine0400.dll  and i think i might have found out what causes it... apparently (according to sites i have found) its a spyware program from wild tangent... i guess it gets downloaded with aim.. which i did recently download

however the problem did not start from the moment i downloaded it, i think it might have happened when i tried to uninstal weather bug but a problem happened when i was uninstalling it... so anyway i think that is what it is from.  however i folowed the steps for uninstalling it and it didnt work  >:(  ... im so annoyed.

you don't have to download software to do so. . . just go to start - run - type "msconfig". The last TAB let's you check and uncheck different startup items. :)

ok i did the uncheck thingy... but um now when i restarted it gave me this pop-up... umm wtf do i do? (see attached)[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

What is in place of the pics ?

Can you right click and select show picture ? Is it a red X ?? Or does it seem as though the pics are not even part of the page ?

Posted

Red X means that the web browser could not get the picture. That may be because of security settings, or because the pictures are unavailable (page links to pictures that no longer exist), but you said that you have checked it on another comp, so it will not be that. Have you tried resetting your internet settings ?

If not, go to Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - Find the Internet Icon, and click on the button below it that says "Default Level".

If that doesnt work, go back to Tools - Internet Options - and go to Advanced tab, the last one, find the button Restore Defaults.

That may help.
