It's time Iran was put in their place.  They say they want to join the 'Nuclear Club' and then they act like this.  Apparently this was done by a religious faction who the Irani Goverment can't control.  We should send in the SAS at least.  Something needs to be done to protect the well-being of our troops before they subjected to more inhumane treatment.

Iran supports it's terrorist groups, the whole embassy incident by students "they couldn't control" was supported by them.

I say the SAS (best special ops group in my opinion) go in and smoke those terrorists

you know this has always bothered me. America and other nations freaked out that Iraq was this huge danger to the world, and that they are the greatest threat in the middle east. They were not! In fact Saddam never really striked me as being that dangerous. I guess he is only dangerous to israel because of how close iraq is, and for that reason I do think iraq needed to be put in it's place. Not about this stupid fixation on the "war on terror" though.

To me the biggest danger in my opinion has always been Iran. The leaders of iran are usually more intelligent in their dealings with the west, and are a lot more crafty. They also seem to always get support from western nations which mystifies me (of course France often mystifies me.) Not only that they also get help from nations like China and even Russia. They have now real and tangable capabilities with atomics and other weapons, and dont do things as hastily as iraq did under Saddam.

We should have dealt with Iran long ago. Of course that is easier said than done I know, but you know what I am saying.

With full Marines support as well as Air support from the RAF, and I'm sure our Israeli, Australian and American friends wouldn't mind lending a hand.

Or they could have been telling the truth about being lost.  A few thousand feet, barely over half a mile.  Although I wouldn't be surprised if certain elements of my government or the UK's wants a war with Iran.  Or surprised Iran wants a war with us, I have four Iranian battalians on the border of Iraq right now that says as much.

WTF? Why would we send our troops to get captured and/or killed by those religious lunatics?  Seeing as though it's Americans that start wars, why are you saying you wouldn't put it past us?  We could take out Iran on our own anyway, why would we need some cowboys blowing up our troops even though they're on the same side?

We weren't even in Iranian Territorial waters.  According to them we were but their version of the international boundry is different to the rest of the world's version of the boundry.  Our troops were on the way to help train Iraqi troops to patrol the waters, to protect Iraq from Iranian smugglers and against the possible threat of invasion.

If the british government (read: Blair) wanted a war with Iran, they probably wouldn't go about it like this. Nor could they afford it politically, not would we really want to. Keep going diplomatically, and I suspect the troops will be released without issue: the Iranian government likely just wants the UK to apologise formally, and perhaps exert a bit of pressure.

Bear in mind also that Iran's action isn't always quick and decisive, given that its executive isn't wholly centralised.

Its not in control of it's own country so if it wishes to progess diplomatically it should regain control and take the powers away from the religious factions.

Many Newspapers are claming that they have received information that Israeli is about to strike nuclear facilities in Iran. If so it will definitely bring back some memories from the past. :O

Wouldn't be such a bad thing though.

How would they get there though? Surely they would have to fly through Iraqi airspace which wouldn't be allowed I expect.

yeah, some frightening memories of the past. For some reason I get a bad feeling from the idea now though. When israel striked the other nuclear facility years back, there were different circumstances. Now it just seems extremely risky. I just hope as allies we back up israel in this if it is done. Things are getting much more dangerous in the world stage, and in many cases it affirms the beliefs of many christians out there.

The Israeli strike against the nuclear reactor the French were helping to build in Iraq in the 80s would be the last time.  As for provoking a war, I'm sorry it seems to be America's job to do that, I guess the cynical part of my mind was giving too much credit to our proxy Britain to try it themselves.  I'm glad the troops were released, but not glad Iran kept everything.  I take it Britain now has to change codes around and such on their communications equipment?
