Why is it that Jesus has to be a white man? Can't be he a black or indian or any skin colour apart from white? And also, if he is there to help humanity, why didn't he help the starving Africans? Till today, many people still suffer and it isn't their fault, so why doesn't Jesus go err..."save them"? :O

Well, to be honest, its quite possible that the actual Jesus Christ was more Middle Eastern in heritage than the heritage we normally associated with Judiaism. But, the simple fact is that it doesn't matter what heritage Jesus was. He does not have to be anything, not white, not black, not anything else. And if there are people today who are starving, it is not because Jesus did not help them -- He did -- but because we failed them in His place. Jesus taught that, above all else, we must love one another. All people. Even those who we disagree with. We must love them. We have not.

during that time from what we can read, certain tribes were lighter or darker skinned than others, and had different characteristics. Jesus could have been very white skinned, or dark olive skinned. I mean why is it that everybody thinks that jewish people have to fit into one look? It doesnt work that way people! lol and it didnt work that way thousands of years ago either. I mean there are some jewish people to this day that are more african than semitic racially, but are still jews nonetheless. I really dont think it is a big deal anymore.

And dont blame the catholics so much for their depiction which is where it largely started. Most of the artists just drew what they thought jesus looked like, and because most people at that time rarely even were more than a 100 miles from their home, they never really thought to take a lot of realism when it comes to race into their picture. They just made jesus the way they thought anybody would look like, which is white. That is where they lived! lol good gravy train.

I mean I have seen statues and pictures made in ancient india of early church renderings of jesus, and he looks indian. There are also statues and pictures in china where jesus looks chinese. Remember these artists grow up around like folks, so they will personalize jesus and make him look like their community. know what I mean?

lol goodness newt. your weird ;)

yeah it is applicable because jesus was human too, but I dont think it is an issue is all Iam saying.

and how did they know if he was perfect?maybe he told lies and noone knows the truth?

Yes, it is something to argue about...and then why didn't Jesus go to China to preach to them?

Just what the hell is "perfect" supposed to mean, anyway? It often seems to me that people use this word without thinking. The truth is that there is no such thing as a "perfect" human being, since many human features cannot be judged on a heirarchal scale. In other words, since blonde hair is no better or worse than black or brown hair, what kind of hair would a "perfect man" have?

As for Jesus, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume He was dark-skinned.

And the reason why He didn't go to China (or any other place like that) is simple: He couldn't preach to everyone, could He? Sooner or later, He needed to stop preaching, so it was inevitable that most people would never get to see Him in person. That's why He chose Apostles to carry on His work.

Then Chinese didn't need to know about the Christian faith? :O

Also, why did he only come down on 33BC? People were already sinning about close to 5000 years before that so isn't it a little...late? Why not come earlier?

The Chinese know about the Christian faith from the Christian missionaries who went to China. The same way everyone outside Israel learned about the Christian faith. Jesus never preached in Europe or America either.

As for why Jesus came at the exact moment in time when He did, I suppose that has something to do with God's knowledge of human history. I believe God wanted His son to come to Earth at the appropriate moment to lay the foundations of a great world religion. If Jesus had come earlier or later, perhaps Christianity would have never gotten off the ground.

OK

Why?Maybe he wouldn't have been crucified and could continue preaching?

Also, this is not a serious question now. What would happen if someone goes back in time and prevents his crucification or causes his death someother way[e.g. by poisoning]?

Jesus was crucified so that all of humanity would be saved. Think about it like this, let's suppose that Jesus went to every corner of the world and preaches. He might reach almost every person, but, as we know from forums like this one, simple words often cannot convey a message, much less the salvation which Jesus sought. The crucifixtion of Christ is the crux of the entire Christian religion, as it is the sacrifice of God for mankind; God sacrificing his son so that all human beings might be saved. This, naturally, obviates the need for Jesus to personally visit every corner of the globe.

So what does a person who has faith in another religion other than christianity? What will he think and believe of Jesus and why do they think that way?

If it is proven  that he really didn't come to be "crucified so that all of humanity would be saved" and was untrue, then what would all the people who are christians do and think?

Half of Jesus's DNA was probably just created by God out of nothing. But whatever that DNA contained, it didn't make Jesus look any different from your average 1st century Hebrew - if it did, Jesus would have looked strange and someone would have mentioned it.

you are right edric. The male half of the genetics was probably formed by God himself and placed inside the egg of Mary. It says in one of the new testament books and in isaiah with the prophesy of the Christ that he would have an appearance that would be unassuming and really nothing special at all. So no he looked like what he was, a jew.

as to what color skin he would have? That depends on the tribe, because some tribes looked different than others. He was of the tribe of judah, and they were actually a tribe that ranged in color. He could have had blonde hair, or dark, coarse black hair. Not all jews are olive skinned and dark haired, though that is a characteristic of many jewish people.

For example, one of my good friends is full italian, but he looks scandinavian. Not all italians are olive skinned, and that goes for every race, there is diversity in every race you will meet with.

What does the 'H' in "Jesus H. Christ!" stand for?

(1) It stands for "Haploid." This is an old bio major joke, referring to the unique (not to say immaculate) circumstances of Christ's conception. Having no biological father, J.C. was shortchanged in the chromosome department to the tune of one half. Ingenious, I'll admit, but whimsy has no place in a serious investigation such as this.
