Advice needed... Edit: Perhaps not so urgent now

No time. Get right to point. My sister and family went away yesterday, leaving me alone here. While away, one of her pets (ferret) has died. She's expected back tonight.

1) What can I do with the body until then?! I can't just leave it with the others... but is anywhere else really hygenic?

2) How am I supposed to break it to her? I'm not very good at this empathising thing...

Please help me... I don't often have to deal with this...

One important thing->How long more till they come back?It can't be too long,or the ferret will have some tiny white crawling friends joining it,lol.:D

1)Do you have a plastic ziplock bag?You can put it in there first.

2)Just tell her straight to the point.

Several hours. And since rigor mortis is very much in evidence, and the body is cold, but It wasn't there last night, I can surmise that it has been dead for approximately 12-14 hours already.

There are no bags big enough for a ferret. Not here at any rate.

How did it die? Not because of you i hope. If it's not your fault then you should indeed bring it straight to the point. You couldn't help it.

If she'll be back tonight you could just take out the body and put it in the garage or something. You don't have to worry too much about hygiene... it won't decompose that fast.

I care more about animals than I do about most people, of course it wasn't me.  :P

Yes well it's a warm day, there could be flies around, I'm not sure how the cat would react... Nevertheless, the ferret's in a shoebox with some ice right now, in the shed. And everyone says get straight to the point. Righty ho then...

Yeah, well i live on a farm and sometimes animals die here. Like cow or calf. And usually it takes at least one day before they are picked up. But it's not like the flies will eat the corpses right away. It should not be too bad. But i think the shoe box would be fine, although i don't know if the ice is a realy good idea. If the ice melts the body will lie in a puddle of water, i dunno how good that is.

Separate the flesh from the bones and cook it into your family's dinner with extra serving for your sister,LMAO.:D

No just joking,I think weapping it up with tissue and then putting it in the shoe box would be a good idea...at least it's better than hanging it in front of the doorstep, lol.

Phone her, it may give you time to vent her anger while she's far. Then perhaps you won't be convicted  ;D  Also what kind of animal is "ferret"? If it is a mammal, best is to grave it in forest (not less than 1 meter deep) or somewhere you won't expect anyone to dig for closest few years. Or burn it, that would be best, not in house of course...

Ferrets are alot like weseals and stoats, they apparently make good pets (I dont know why) and are used for hunting rabbits.

Mammel. A bit like a large weasel. In German (it's the closest I can get, sorry) it's 'fretchen' I think...

If I wanted to get rid of it I'd have buried it by now... But I know she'd want to see the body just to be sure (We're weird like that...). So instead of getting rid of it I have to preserve it for the next few hours until she gets back. Then it will most likely be buried under the apple tree...

Edit: Calling might not be such a hot idea. I'd rather not led her endure a three hour car journey with little else to think about. I'd probably be strangled...
