What is with www.omegacorner.com ?

Are they giving out some sort of alternative drivers or something? Im a little confused. Are they better than the original drivers?

I like them.  For a lot of the new cards you won't notice much of a difference, but for the older cards it makes a significant inpact in performance.  I'm awaiting his next version of the NVidia detonators.

I havent used their drivers yet, and i didnt really want to till i knew what was going on. I might try em when i get home... im at school right now.

There are two version you can extract; the performance drivers or the appearance drivers.  The appearance drivers will perform the same as manufacturer drivers, but have some tweaks in them to make things look a little nicer.  The performance drivers look the same as ordinary drivers, but have some tweaks that speed things up.

Depending on your card and which ones you installed, they might not make any difference at all.  Omega has some screenies up of the different versions and how they impact graphically, and you can notice quite a difference in some games.

Nec, of course u will see more options in OMEGA drivers...

I have a Radeon 7000... should i bother?
That depends on whether or not the rest of your system is up to par with the capabilities of a Radeon 7000.  If your graphics card is the weakest link in the chain of your system, Omega drivers will make a difference.  What are your specs?

PIII 667

192MB SDRAM

32MB ATI Radeon 7000 Series

Some sort of sound card... no idea what.

Other unnecessary stuff.

Alright. I just tried the drivers, with the following effects - my screensaver slowed down by around 4 FPS, and the funky multicolored reflectively textured doohickeys are now white. BAH.

Now i have gone back to my old ATI drivers, and the screensaver has sped back up, but the torus knots (the "funky multicolored reflectively textured doohickeys") are still white. Awwww.

A typical registry error.

Doesn't Omega Corner provide decent uninstallation of drivers?

Bah...

When and if you read the instructions for the Omega drivers,it gives you a choice of two versions,a performance and a quality version.Which one did you download ? ;)

Ummm, there was no option to download either version.  ??? All it gave me was the option of which operating system to download it for. I chose XP, because im running XP.

The following quote is from the Omega corner web site main page :

I HAVE CHANGED THE INSTALL UTILITY TO INCLUDE TWO TYPES OF DRIVERS, ONE WITH QUALITY SETTINGS AND ANOTHER WITH PERFORMANCE SETTINGS.  WHEN YOU INSTALL THE DRIVERS YOU WILL BE ASKED WHICH ONE YOU WISH TO USE
