So, why is it bachelors day?

In Scotland during the days of yore Bachelors Day was the one day a woman could ask a man to marry her.

He then ahd a choice:  Say yes and get married, or say no and get stoned.

"Bachelors" day is relaly a bit of a misnomer, as it really isn't there day at all....

Very interesting.  I suppose it began as one of those things where a guy asked another guy if it was okay, as a man, to accept marriage proposal from... a woman!  Holy reversal of traditional roles, Batman!  ;)
