So, I was browsing CNN and found this story...a Republican who claims to have dual United States/Romania citizenship has burst onto the political scene in Romania by declaring her candidacy for Presidency.

Well I know one thing for sure - the number of votes she receives will be direcly proportional the number of hairs Edric rips off his own scalp... ;D

Seriously, though, I doubt she'll get a significant or even respectable number of votes.

She doesn't stand a chance in hell, and she knows it. But she's not running to win. She's running to send a message. My guess is that she is delivering a warning to the Romanian politicians from The Great And Beloved Leader George W. Bush: "Be good and obedient puppets, or I'll get rid of all of you and put my own trusted liutenant directly in charge."

Our leaders have made some timid attempts to unstick their lips from Bush's ass recently. Obviously, he doesn't like it.

When you say Bush, do you mean the most powerful simian in the world himself, or his advisors? I doubt Bush could place Romania on a map of Europe (perhaps not even a labelled one) - let alone cares all that much.

So, we have people who are kissing the ass of the people who are pulling the strings on a man who is in charge of the big US of A itself?

What kind of a relationship is that?

Political relationship.

Off topic a bit, but 11% of U.S. teens can't point out the United States on a labelled map.

Actually you can have dual citizenship with American passports, I myself have both an American and Australian passport, though I live in Britain which is a bit wierd but anyway.

She doesn't have a chance in hell of getting any votes, maybe 2 if she is lucky.

that's not dual citizenship

Dual citizenship is not the same as holding two active passports from different countries, because a passport alone does not confer citizenship. Getting a U.S. passport does not require you to forfeit passports from other countries.

Everyone who is naturalized as a U.S. citizen must swear this solemn oath: "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law ... "

Thus, in order to become a U.S. citizen, immigrants are required by law to transfer their allegiance from their native country to the United States of America. But our country is now confronted with the problem of immigrants who have been falsely led to believe that they are or can be dual citizens, and this dangerous notion is diluting our national identity and culture.

you can be have dual citizenship I think though but kahn you're not a dual citizen and you're example does not answer ordos' question

I'd bet anything that he's either never heard of Romainia, or thinks its a kind of lettuce.

To give Bush the benefit of the doubt, I don't think it's necessary to pinpoint the country of Romania to be a good president, nor relevant until it becomes worth knowing it.

You people have to realize Bush has no interest in politics for any reason other than the fame and the dough.  He is just a puppet for the higher-ups in the Republican party, and the other greedy pigs *cough*Halliburton*cough* that really run the administartion.  And they want as many nations, no matter how obscure (no offense to the Romanians), on their side because it gives them credential.

You'd think that anyone aspiring to the title of "the most powerful man in the world" should at least by able to point out every country with over 20 million inhabitants...

In other news, we will have a wonderful choice of presidential candidates this year. The frontrunners are as follows:

1. Adrian Nastase - taking the word "corruption" to a new level, while trying to beat the world record on the amount of public money an elected official can steal.

2. Theodor Stolojan - the guy who once got the economy back on its feet by ruining the lives of millions and making their life savings worthless. House trained by the IMF.

3. Corneliu Vadim Tudor - the ultra-nationalist wannabe dictator who can't make up his mind which hapless minority he hates most.

Perhaps I should attempt a coup... ;)

Well, if you need an overseas place to hide out at, my door is always open.  (Well, not really, but I could let you in.)

I heard that when quizzed (this was a couple of years ago now) to find the USA on a map with only land masses (ie, no political boundaries or names), a large percentage of them, sorry I can't remember the number, pointed to the former USSR, because it was the single largest land mass on the map.  What a viewpoint to have...

Oh definitely filecore...it is sad.  Edric...if elected "most powerful man in the world" when I'm old enough, I promise to be able to point out every nation on Earth with more than 20 million population.

Africa has so many nations along the Ivory Coast that I get confused, and I'll admit that there are two nations in Europe that I can't point out on a map, quite frankly because I need a map of Rome, not Europe.  The Palazzo Malta is in the Via Condotti in Rome, and is the world's smallest city-state.  The world's next smallest city state is Vatican City.

Anyhow, if those are your frontrunners Edric...I suddenly feel thankful for the bumbling fools we have running.

Heh, well that still leaves out quite a lot of major countries... and for instance, I live in Finland (and you'll be amazed how many people believe that Nokia is Japanese) which only has a total population of around five million...
