I just saw the 5 planet of the apes movies.(not counting the new one)

I thought they were really good! how about you guys anyone seen 'em?

btw. does anyone know how the humans became so stupid? I don't think they say in any of the movies.

The humand didn't get stupid.  They blew themselves up through war, until they had no technology or anything left.  It brings to mind a quote by Einstein, which I'll paraphrase:  If man fights a third World War with atomic weapons, the fourth will be fought with sticks and stones (or is it bows and arrows?).

Anyway, I've only seen the first of the series, and the new one by Tim Burton, which was pretty lame.  The original ruled, though.

"Get your hands off me, you damned dirty ape!"

So the Tim Burton one is the new one? I really like the end of that movie... There you can see what happens when you travel in time... :)

Of course the movies are depressing. It is not a happy ending in any of them.

though the humans were stupid in the first and second movie. how did that happen? they could not talk in the first movie.

Indeed, that quote I also remember. it is a good one.

Planet of the apes is a novel by Pierre Boulle ("Bridge over the river kwaï...")

In the novel, Humans do the same thing as Dune : make Apes like Humans !

When they are united, they take the ower by force !

One thing : read the novel, it's very easy to read and the end is not the same that in films! ;) Because I make a lot of english mistakes :P !

The monkeys returned against the Humans beings, and make them undergo what they underwent (experiences, cages, hunting).

The Human beings in front of their weakness, do not dare to speak any more...

Shifting gears, what did you guys think of the most recent movie....

I thought it was pretty good, dident have the same effect the originals had but nonetheless.....

I thought the originals were better than the new one. though the new one was good.

anyway, it was emphasized in the movie that humans were to stupid to talk, there was nothing wrong with their vocal cord. since they lived together in great numbers it would be strange if they didn't knew how to talk, or forgot it.

That's right; they didn't understand what was happening.  They didn't know why the apes were killing them and capturing them (in effect, poaching them).  Again, it's the reversed roles between the apes and humans.  But the fact that the feral humans did live communally did imply that they had some way of communicating amongst themselves.

They were bestial yes, but even beasts communicate in their own ways.

Ok, I've seen only the new movie but I want to participate this discussion also.

After blowing themselves to hell, they had lost all aspects of their history and cultures, including language.

Sounds like nuclear war to me. There's no way to blow everything, there will always remain something, and if America growed with the same speed as nowadays, there would left 90000 billions tons or even more laser guns (well, they used laser in the new movie), ammunition, military "stuff" (tanks, jeeps, etc), and SPACE STATIONS. And what happened after the nuclear war? Humans didn't try to build civilization again? Apes became wiser and built new civlilization? Ehehe, Emperor Harkonnen is right in this matter.

And, by the way... How can you have a nuclear war without acocalypse? As far as I know, there wasn't nuclear winter, the icebergs didn't melt, nor any signs of nuclear wasteland and risen heath. IMO, one of these will happen after nuclear war.

And then Emperor Harkonnen's answer:

Ok, more than 6 milliard apes? And 6 milliards is only the current earth human population...

And even if they learnt a lot, how are they any match against guns? If they open the cage locks, I guess the security guns or whatever will take them quickly down.

no there was no nuclear war. only a few cities were nuked, after the ape revolution. the apoclypse happens yes, but that is in the far future...

I don't think that you can say milliard in english, we say that in Norwegian too, but I think the word we are looking for is billion.

anyway, yes there must have been many, many apes. but remember this was in 1970 or something. the apes were physically stronger than humans, and used guns they had taken. before the revolution they got themselves guns.

btw. after 20 years as human pets the apes took over. after 20 years they were greater than humans in numbers, and perhaps just as smart.

I saw the old movie a long time ago, and I have to say that the new re-make is horrible. Can you make ANY sense of that ridiculous ending? (the one of the new movie, I mean)

My thoughts exactly.  The new one was garbage.

My favorites of the series was one and four. Though after the first one, things went downhill. four I thought did the best of all of the sequels. I just liked the story idea.

Also, read the book. It was written before the movies, and is wonderful! has many differences that I really like. Just as shocking an ending, though different.

Also, there is one part in four that me and my friend robbie always joke around with whenever we want a quick and cheap laugh. I will just say to him "DO! DO!", which is from the fourth movie. WHen the humans force apes to learn. Then you hear a noise in the background saying something like "I.Q. level increased by 5". it is all kinda cheezy.lol

I want to watch the new one once more, since now I have watched the old ones, it would be interesting.

I only saw it once when it first came out(new one ;) ), and liked it, because I hadn't seen the old ones.

I think that the sequels are good! it would have been incomplete without sequels

It finishes how???

Well, if Tim Burton didn't respect the original film, this last one hasn't respected the novel... which imortance ???
