I copy music from CDs to computer so I can listen to them without changing the CD all the time. So this is still legal? I guess so.

But if you put the mp3/wav/wma to your server or share it any other way it is illegal.

I can't hear it until I rip it to disk...?

Not shure about your computer but mine has no problems playing WAV files. . .

The first part is correct, you can rip them to MP3's for personal use. Although the second. . .

But if you put the mp3/wav/wma to your server or share it any other way it is illegal.

It is not illegal if they are in WAV format. . .then you are free to distribute them ..

Well, they're uncompressed MP3 files for the most part, and as such are better quality, although quality that high is only really necessary if you're mixer or recordist.

Yes, wav files take up much space.

Much of the extra space in wav files consists of sound in frequencies we cannot hear(or hear very well). Also, compression algorithms make formats such as MP3 smaller in size.
