Right now I am rereading Dune. I really need to do it as I have forgotten much, and need to bone up on my Dune knowledge. I was wondering if any of you would like to do a chapter by chapter read with me? I know there really arent chapters in Dune, but there are segments, seperated by little blurbs from history texts and whatnot. I was wondering if a group of you guys would like to read a chapter per night, then get on MIRC or MSN and have a group chat. We could discuss what we have learned, and the details we might have forgotten or even have learned anew. what do you guys think? it is just an idea, but if anybody wants to do so I would love to read with them. :)

Sounds good, But first I will have to finish "The white plague" which is a very good book. (although I'm a bit lost with the usa scientists/politicians)

It may take me 5 days to finish, then I will see then.

I never mind to read Dune again. Although this will be my 5th time then.

But I'm currently busy with the Lord of the Rings, and as you know, that is a long story.

But reading Dune is like eating your favorite meal. You enjoy it every time, even when you know what will happen. Though, you shouldn't read it every day.

I've just finished Nineteen Eighty-Four, and I was contemplating rereading Dune again, but I'm not totally sure yet. I might read one of my Myst books again or something. Even if I do read Dune again, I don't like setting such a rigid schedule for it. I like to read when it suits me; else, it begins to feel too much like a chore.

Hmm... on second thought, maybe I'll do it. One chapter a night should be okay, and I can always read another book on the side. I'll bring my copy of Dune to my apartment when I go back. Let me know when you want to start or whatever.

Hmm... I would be up for something like this. I just got Dune the other day as I have never actually read it before. It would be interesting to do this sort of thing. Just say when and where and I'll go for it.

One thing I fear about that (if it's your first time reading Dune) is that there may be spoilers in the discussion. :-

Andrew, I thank you for your concern, but I have seen/played all the movies/games dealing with Dune so I practically know the whole storyline, heh. But I think that reading what started it all would be a better experience than watching a movie or playing a game.

Hmm... So I guess this idea is just going to die without coming to fruition. That's too bad, I was really looking forward to discussing Dune with other people. No one is really into Dune in my area.

I only met about 10 people that knew about Dune, of which 5 may have read the books. (I know that one is my former professor, another being a library workers' husband)

60 pages and I'm done with White plague. It gets very good at the end. (no spoilers whatsoever please)

I would like to do it ... I have school two nights a week. I also live in the EST Zone so I don't know if this will be a problem...

I have a really beautiful copy of the Illustrated Dune that my boyfriend bought me in England that needs some breaking in... Lovely Pictures..
