MS closing down MSN chat rooms ?

You guys are getting off topic, Microsoft is planning on getting rid of it's open chatrooms where anybody can talk to everybody. Not MSN where you need to add someone to talk to them.

The reason is that some paedophiles have been abusing the system so some servers will be shut down while others will be closely moderated.

We have been debating about this this morning. . . would be supprised how MS is gon'na monitor those chat channels. You could probably always use a proxy t hide your IP, or there are more computers related to your IP. And qua user ID. . . they can never give every unique persone on the world just one MSN acount. . so using a false acount should still be possible. . .

They can probably make it harder to hide your identety. . . but they probably won't be able to counter it compleatly.

With illigal activeties and pedofiles on the inernet there is another aspect MS is not mentioning. As hard and unfammiliar as it might seem. . it's not just older people seeking younger ones, or people selling illegal things. There is also the factor of younger people wanting contact with older people, and of some one searching for illegal things .. those 2 will eventually find eatch other ..one way or the other.

But what can I say. . .thing being Dutch would suggest me to say that we can only give them the opertunety to do so, without them knowing we [ refering to justice departments ] are providing them with it. Then monitor those channels. Although that is a verry contraversial thing to say, and probably not a workable or acceptable thing for any justice department to do. . . .

the whole thing is a scam

MSN is not responsible for pedophiles and they have a disclaimer on their website that excludes them from all such liability

the *REAL* reason they are shutting it down it to leech more money off of idiots who are addicted to chat.

the *ONLY* MSN Chat Rooms that will exist soon will be ones that require PAYMENT on a Credit Card in order to access. that's right - MicroSoft's thinktank has decided - "hey, PORN SITES have been scamming people for years by saying 'we need a Credit Card to make sure you're an Adult' - MicroSoft should do that too!"

and hence you have now no free MSN Chat Rooms again. ever. anywhere. only pay-to-chat rooms ROFL. what kind of a LOSER would go there?

i bet that YahooChat is now going to receive almost 100% of the marketshare from MSN Chat. the Yahoo people must be breaking open the champagne
