Well I would delete your temp internet files and then rescan. You can't delete those files in the windows system directory though. They are required to run windows.

Cant I just get a copy of the files that are infected, Deleate the infected ones and copy in the un infected ones?

I dont have any of my Display drive thingies, Sound card cd's ect...And I dont want to loose all my data, even though most of my stuff is on drive D.

doesn't McAffee or the AVG virus scanner provide you the chooise of deleting it ?

[ I use AVG [ Gobaloppers link ] with one of the laptops and as think you can delete it .. ]

If you still don't wan't to format and reinstall, you could try to delete those files, all temp files, history files and who know whatelse temp you have got. . . then update Windows Explorer again [ he, it worked after McAfee deleted Explorer.exe so who knows ;D ] and again pray it will work. If it does do an online scan again, see if it find any. [ note that it's the only solution besides formatting your hard drive which you really don't seen to wan'na do ;) that I can think of ]

If it doesn't work or would find the virus again .. think the best way to get rid of it [ and the other problems ] is to format your C drive.

[ note: if you have a copy of the origional file you can replace them ]

Can it work?

Could you not reinstall windows and you would still have your files backed up? this may help with your computer problems. (you wouldn't need to format, just reinstall windows)

dit you let SFC scan for changed files and replaced them or deleted them and then let SFC did his job ?

You might want to try the second option if you havn't already done that.

[ gryphon still thinks [tt]format c:[/tt] ]

[ edit : how is he gon'na reinstall without a Windows disk ? ??? ;) ]

Safe Mode is used to try and locate troubled Programs or Devices that may be causing your Windows 95 problems.

Boot to Safe Mode and find your Windows Problem.

To start Windows 98 in Safe mode,

Power On or Restart your computer,

Press and hold down the CTRL key until the Windows 98 Startup menu appears,

and then choose Safe Mode.

To start Windows 95 in Safe mode,

Power On or Restart the PC and wait for a Beep or text say, "Starting Windows 95...... "

When you do see or hear this press the "F8" key.

Wait until you see the Windows 95 Start Up Menu.

You can't install Windows in safe mode. Safe Mode is a way of booting up Windows. It will load only minimal drivers and things like that. No aditional programs.
