Ok...Well..I was dowloading some proxy tools off the net...when explorer crashed...so i rebooted. it happens offten enough. Then my Macaffee files started deleating games and it deleated explorer.exe and i rebooted again and then it said macafee files have been corrupted please reinstall...so i uninstalled them and when i re installed them...my comp forze..rebooted....it froze.....again but this time it froze when the imput password thingy came up..like it froze as soon as it loaded.....again.....and again.....and again.....and again......and guess what.......again!

So finaly in a fit of rage i dropkicked the computer broke two pannels in the front and now the fanns making a funny noise but thats ok...it does that sometimes. I fixed the pannels and left it un plugged for a few hours when the idea hit me... it froze up every time macafee said that its files were corrupted...so i did CRTl-alt- del just as this happend and managed to uninstall it again and it stopped crashing...but now...I cant play starcraft it was one of the things that macafee deleated...when i try to reinstall it reinstalls but when i try to log onto battle.net it says it does not recognize my version and that i need to reinstall. This has happend the 3 times i have tried to reinstall...

and every time i try to dowload a anti virus...my comp frezes...every one of them...

I need to play starcraft....I need internet explorer back....(useing lexx browser now)and fix this thingy...

Your copy of Mcafee anitvirus deleted the file explorer.exe ? ???

Does Starcraft need a patched version to play online ? And Does your computer freeze with evry thing you try to download or just those programs ?

And I would stick with Win'98 on that PC. It could handle XP mayby but it wouldn't run as fast I gues as your current 98 version does. [ WinXP requires more RAM, that way ] And ME isn't effected by the DCOM worm, only NT versions are with the exception of Windows IIS.

back to your problem, you might want to de-install Starcraft and at that point use a regcleaner. See if that helps any [ although I doubt it would in a way, when explorere crashes .. .well. . . it crashes ... :- ]. You might want to do an online virus scan, but if that doesn't help my first suggestion is the same as Gobaloppers. . . format and reinstall Windows.. . ..

Then you're quite stuck, because every once in a while, a computer needs to totally clean itself up.

Your system seems to be damaged beyond your ability to repair it, so that really only leaves you with one option.

Format c:

Windows 98 is quite cheap, I think.

if those errors are still happening, could you go to the microsoft site and see if you can update Windows. Especially Internet Explorer.

Good to see that it worked. :)

I would suggest to uninstall any programs that are running with fatal errors at this time. Then using regcleaner to do the auto-cleanup and remove all key that shouldn't be there. Then reinstall and hope, no pray things will work again.

That regcleaner version isn't of Nullsoft. WinAmp for one is. Just cheched it and the ZIP should be ok. It's the same vesion I use. Can you scan for any viri on your computer ?
