  1. yes that is interesting cybo.... but the reason that i am going for AM2 CPU instead of a Conroe CPU is because: AM2 = 300 bucks Conroe = 1000 bucks And 300ish bucks is about the most i will pay for a CPU ..... 1000 bucks is just out of the question. So thats why i made the selections i did.
  2. Many people felt that 9-11 was a present day pearl harbor. Whether the reaction is justified or not is irrelevant, what i'm saying is that it was inevitable. And it wasnt clear to americans that invading Iraq would be a quagmire. We thought we would win easily like in that movie TEAM AMERICA WORLD POLICE. I mean who knew that sily arabs with scarfs and ak-47's could be so effective against our superior american soldiers who get injected with super serum like in that Jean Claude van Damme movie "Universal Soldier". Plus we have tanks and night-vision versus their camels and lanterns. I mean i was surprised as anyone to be honest. Oh and atleast Pearl harbor was a military target. 9-11 was civilians so the anger was worse....oh it was many RICH civilians that died that made it even WORSE. If you are gonna attack some american civilians DONT KILL THE RICH PEOPLE. If those planes had crashed into the ghettos i guarantee you no war would have occurred. I'm getting off subject here, but the point is that when you go and hijack planes that have important rich white people on them and you crash those planes into buildings that have important rich white people in them, you are going to get one hell of a hornets nest, and whether its justified matters not, I'm simply stating a fact about human nature..... we tend to shoot first and ask questions later, especially when the offense is grievous. Oh and if you dont think that americans stir up easy..... after 9-11 some redneck crashed his pickup truck into a mosque in Texas. Theres more where that came from trust me.
  3. Correct, God is the one thing that is immune to cause and effect, peer pressure, or any other form of determinism or outside influence. Something interesting i found out is that Jewish philosophy stresses that free will is a product of the intrinsic human soul, using the word neshama (from the Hebrew root nshm or נשמ meaning "breath"), but the ability to make a free choice is through Yechida (from Hebrew word "yechid", singular), the part of the soul which is united with God, the only being that is not hindered by or dependent on cause and effect (thus, freedom of will does not belong to the realm of the physical reality, and inability of natural philosophy to account for it is expected). So basically part of our souls are tied into God and allows us to "tap" into His free will since He is truly unhindered by cause and effect. So it makes sense that God cannot be pure energy or matter, or else He would be subject to deterministic forces and then the entire notion of free thought or free will is lost. Without God we are just complex automatons simulating intelligent thought and free will as Edrico stated above. Wow, the more i think about that... the more it seems that we need a Deity to give us real identity and freedom or else we become nothing but elegant machines. Gun
  4. OH MY GOD! YOU REPLIED 5 YEARS LATER WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ? YOU DEPRIVED HIM OF JUSTICE FOR 5 YEARS .... WTF! THE INSANITY ! SCHORPIE IS A 5 YEAR FUGITIVE ! ! ! !
  5. Ok, if you break down your neighbor's door because you thought your wife was in there, but you found she wasnt, then sure its time to leave.... but you should atleast fix the broken door first before you go. Anything else would be irresponsible. We're not done fixing the door, or even taught them how to fix their own door. Gun
  6. ah i see ... you're saying the originaL topic of the post is so easy to refute that its no challenge. eh yea i could see that... i guess thats why people were changing the subject :P
  7. You obviously didnt understand the descriptions of the 10 dimensions. You only get to 10 dimensions by describing probability factors in abstract terms. Edrico and I are speaking of the physical universe expanding. WE're not talking about going back in time and changing your past, we're not referencing drawing an abstract line in "time" nor are we trying to draw arrows in infinite possibilities of outcomes of all the possible endings of all the possible ...ad nauseum. I know of the laymen video describing the 10 dimensions and its interesting but what it considers a "dimension" is mere probability of action outcomes. We're speaking about the physical nature of the universe and giving example of different possible physical layers by using lower dimension examples. Lets arbitrarily assign the dimension # of 4 to "Hyperspace". That would be one dimension higher than our physical 3-D plane. We cant possibly imagine 4-D with a 3-D mind so we must use 2-D to 3-D interaction examples. Its not irrelevant... it may be insufficient but its better than nothing. And with your most recent posts i am starting to reconsider my first impression of you. At first i thought you were intelligent but now i see you're just a blow-hard who uses unnecessary over-embellishing language in an attempt to appear intelligent in order to cloak your incomprehension of the opponent's argument or lack of your own decent rebuttal. Nice distraction tactic. Whats boring is someone who cant debate without getting pissed every 2 seconds when someone outwits him. Its easy to see that Edrico drives you nuts because you cant bullsh!t him like you do everyone else. Also i would like to add that what is BORING is people who cant think outside of the Box. There are few friends i can talk theoretical physics with and dimensions, etc, etc that are actually interested in them. Other friends just wanna sit on a couch and drink beer and grunt and snort and say DIMENSIONS? WHAT DIMENSIONS?? *BELCCCCCH*. To me its the atheists that seem limited and closed minded. Oh and here is the 10 dimension video flash animation... http://www.tenthdimension.com/flash2.php just click on the ZERO at the bottom of the spiral animation to see it play. Oh and by the way the flash does mention what would happen if a 3-D creature (human) were to pass thru an infinite 2-D plane (hence objects can leave infinite planes. So even your beloved flash video agrees with us in terms of physical properties of dimensions. So thank you very much and have a nice day! Next..... Gun
  8. A creator doesnt necessarily have to be made of the same substance as his creation. A human sculptor creates statues of stone and wood... but he isnt made of wood or stone. A painter creates paintings but he isnt made of paint or canvas. God doesnt have to be energy nor matter, even tho that is what he created. Also good point Edrico about our universe being infinite and yet still able to exist outside of it... i.e. infinite 2 D plane. For a 3 D example imgaine a balloon being inflated.... imagine the balloon is our universe.... everything inside the balloon is our universe. Everything outside the balloon is not. The big bang didnt just create matter and energy.. it created space and time. Which means the big bang was very much so like a balloon inflating. The question... what environment/dimension did it inflate in? And who was there? Gun
  9. I'm looking to buy a new graphics card Nvidia (8800) that is is more powerful than my current dual 7800 gtx SLI setup. Plus the 8800 has the dual DVI hook ups needed for the 30" monitor. Also i am thinking about upgrading the the AMD AM2 socket motherboard. (from Asus with the copper heatsink pipe) to replace my 939 sockt mobo Wanna get the quad core cpus coming out to replace my AMD +4000 cpu. And i am getting the Dell 30 inch cinematic widescreen flatpanel monitor to replace my 24" sony CAD monitor (the 24inch weighs like 100 pounds). This i will do slowly as my parts are still very nice. However I'm gonna sell them on E-bay so it shouldn't cost me too much. Thats the nice thing about staying state of the art.... when you want to upgrade you can get lots of money by cashing in your older nice parts.
  10. from that link it apperars that only 350,000 americans protested the war......... 350,000/ 350,000,000 = 0.001% of Americans Protested. 0.001% ....Sorry, but I'm afraid thats not enough to stop a war from a majority of americans people seeing red. gun
  11. yadda yadda yadda... all you people should just save up for the 30" Widescreen Monitor. ($1,274) :P . Its the best Monitor in the world and all my friends who own one love them to death. I'm still contemplating upgrading my Sony 24" Widescreen to one. Damn i have seen this monitor in action and its like playing your games on a movie screen. Oh and the 2560 x 1500 res is nothing to sneeze at either.
  12. erjin to figure out what is a good mid-range card ... its quite simple my dear.... go find out which cards were "the best" on Tom's hardware .... 6 months to 1 year ago. Yesterday's Premium Cards are tomorrow's mid-range cards ;)
  13. In your never ending quest for insults you forgot A.) You didnt immediately "catch" it at first. B.) What you "caught" doesnt prove your point.... the entire definition is "something produced in a biological process...in addition to the principal product". Basically stating once again that your biological processes control your free will which makes you predetermined/programmed/etc. C.) see A Gun
  14. Calling it a side effect or a byproduct still puts the brain (instead of free will) as primary instead of secondary. Unless your Free Will is the primary force you are determined, programmed, or whatever else you want to call it. I know you think of yourself as a biological machine... but do you honestly think your decisions are programmed and predetermined?
  15. That made absolutely no sense. I think more people will remember the Pope John Paul or Billy Graham than they will some college flunky in a bar drinking to impress his buddies and having a "life". Only to grow old, fat, and bald, and having nothing to show for his life except a hollow shell, a diseased liver, and a grave with a tombstone noone cares about. The unfaithful are chained to a counterfeit life. Pascal is right, to not believe in God and die and discover there was one is far worse than any cheap thrills you could have experienced on this earth. Its rather like having your last meal of fried chicken and mountain dew right before you get executed. Its pretty worthless.
  16. I never left............ Also, Darth i find it amusing how you chalk up Free Will to a "byproduct" of us being biological automatons. I'm sorry but thats just sidestepping the issue and copping out. There's no way I'm letting you call free will a "byproduct" and get away with it. Main Entry: by-prod
  17. Actually the "faithful" exhibit more free will than the "truly free". The faithful are not bound by peer pressure, worldy addictions/desires/fears, or stereotypic behaviours. The "truly free" are the ones you see in the bars every night drinking like robots to impress their belching buddies for fear of the peer pressure stigma of not being a "real man" or not being "cool" or not having a "life". Thats just one example. The faithful are able to break free from the mundane everyday mold of mankind. Hence the reason why so many faithfuls leave such a lasting impression on people than anyone else, they arent your everyday average joe chained to the world. Gun
  18. Show me where "millions" took to the streets. Unless you're referring to Europeans. Sure I'm sure millions of French took to the streets but i doubt that many americans protested. I'd say far more poeple were in a furor to stomp a hole in the middle east after what happened on 9-11. Afghanistan didnt satisfy most americans..... Iraq was definately the next target on most people's minds. The only real resistance were the Germans and the French. The americans, british, and the australians were for it as far as i can recall, altho it was many years ago. To be honest i tihnk most people thought it would be a simple snapshut case like the previous Iraq war. Gun
  19. There's no particular treatment or cure you've heard of because we've all been brainwashed by liberal media from the time we were little children to believe every politically correct thing we've ever heard. However others have pushed that media suppression aside to try to understand the issue more clearly. Interestingly, even chinese researchers believe its curable. Its already common knowledge that some american researchers believe that. The "cure" seems to be something called "gender- affirmative therapy" ... Altho i'm sure there are several other types of therapy. (and NO i dont mean the barbaric ones like electro-shock, I'm talking about caring therapy for those who want it) http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-10/08/content_269765.htm http://www.narth.com/docs/byrd.html'>http://www.narth.com/docs/byrd.html http://www.narth.com/ http://www.narth.com/menus/cstudies.html http://www.narth.com/menus/born.html http://www.peoplecanchange.com/ http://www.peoplecanchange.com/Is_Change_Possible.htm
  20. Alcoholics that deny themselves alcohol are miserable too, and its quite psychological (just like cigarettes). With sexual orientation its also physical/psycho. I doubt you merely think about sex, Devil's Advocate. I'm sure you like to engage in it. And quite frequently. Gene Study may undermine gay gene theory. http://www.drthrockmorton.com/article.asp?id=128 Altho the above article is interesting, i dont like people separating the argument into gentic vs choice.... because i think just because something is in your genetics it doesnt mean its 100% uncontrollable. i believe something can be genetic and still be a choice. I mean genetically you have the desire to eat but you choose what to eat. You have the desire to have sex and experience love.. but you choose with whom. Blacks are black because of their genetics and they cannot control that. SO the real question is not whether homosexuality is genetic... but rather is it something that is genetic that is controllable or uncontrollable? Here's a comprehensive summary of Gay theories: There are many psychologists and scientists who have theories about why some people feel affection and sexual attraction for their own sex. However, many of the theories are contradictory and the truth is, it is very hard to be sure why any given person feels same sex attraction. There are several theories that you have probably heard about. One popular theory is that people are born gay. The theory says there are genes that control the surfacing and direction of sexual feelings. People who consider themselves gay, lesbian or bisexual are being who they are and should not try to live in conflict with their sexual feelings, kind of like people who are left handed should not try to become right handed. Second, a variation of the idea that people are born gay is that hormones control sexual attractions. Some people believe that these chemicals affect the brains of people while developing pre-birth. The effect is to make the brains of some people more likely to feel same sex attraction. A third view is that sexual attractions are learned through many different kinds of experiences while one is growing up. Early sexual experiences, being abused physically or sexually or being exposed to same sex pornography at an early age are examples of some types of shaping experiences. A fourth popular view is that family environment and experiences shape sexual attractions. For instance, some former gay and lesbians believe that their emotional needs for a loving and close same sex parent drove them to look for love in a sexual manner from other people of their same sex. And there is also a 5th popular view... that it is merely a cognitive choice as advocated by http://www.queerbychoice.com/ Last, many psychologists and scientists believe that some combination of these previous theories might be true for many people and not true for others. Let me repeat. Science or psychology has not proven any of these theories completely true or completely false. No gay gene has been discovered nor are there certain kinds of families that are always responsible for same sex attractions. For different people with same sex attraction, there may be some truth in each of these theories. For instance, as you read the theories, did you feel any of them were closer to your experience? All we really can say now is that it appears that the influences leading to feelings of same sex attraction are different for different people. Whatever the reasons that influence the feelings you have, you are so much more than your sexual feelings. These feelings are only a part of your life and you are free to limit them by your beliefs if that is what you choose to do. Guns
