OK, I'll probably look like a complete prat if this has already come up a thousand times (and it probably has as it seems pretty obvious), but you'll have to forgive me, I don't visit these boards often. Talking about the - "real"/"now" - world connections with Dune, would anyone else agree that House Harkonnon has, what look like, strong links with Russia/(ex-)Russian Royal Family?

Did they actually hope to regain the Ghola's original memories this way, or was that merely an interesting - and valuable - by-product of making him kill paul?

Am I right in thinking it was originally a knife?

Admittedly there are some similarities, but alot of what you're saying is complete rubbish! I have a much greater respect for the work's of Frank Herbert than I do of George Lucas, but still... The thing about comparing the X-Wing to the Sandworm - grasping at straws just alittle?! And having the hero's family killed by the big baddie is one of the biggest cliches in film! I think George Lucas used Dune as inspiration, but alot of the ideas are mere coincidence, nothing more.

I never reaslised there were this many houses... I notice that House Ordos are a House-Minor, why is it then, do you think, that they have such a large part in Emporer? Surely it would have made more sense to have the Ixians or Tleilaxu as a fully-playable side and Ordos as the Sub-House?!

About Tom Cruise playing Duncan - He'd want the lead role ::) Anyway, I think the guy who played Hagrid in Harry Potter and the dude in a couple of the more recent James Bong movies would make a good Vladamir.

They're obvioulsy all great, and choosing a favourite would be impossible. I'll just enjoy them as a series. ;D

I've often wondered about the feelings of the "subjects" of the Great Houses. Do they feel actual loyalty to their house, or are they just seen as their rulers? Also, are the inhabitants of the home worlds actually (e.g) Artreides, or just the subjects of the Artreides? In Dune: Messiah there is a comment about the Artreides being naturally gifted pilots - does this refer to the Artreides family, or the "Artreides People". Dune is often a very confusing and contradictorary universe ::) Anyway, after all that I'll introduce myself. :D I'm zispin, normally of the RA2 community. Hello all. ;D
