Lena's huge over in Germany, I heard her everywhere I went. UK finishing last was predictable!
-
I'm for a change as well - I'm sure a mock-up of a new one would convince the rest.
-
Don't worry, we don't believe in it either ;) Saying that, Luft'46 is an interesting website, with lots of concept art of the planned aircraft of the the Luftwaffe.

I'm back in the UK now, so I will be posting properly again!

The picture is from Cheltenham, near where I live. The town has a Liberal Democrat MP, FYI. In Cheltenham there's quite a divide between rich and poor (lots of poor estates, and lots of private schools right next to them), which was made a lot worse by Blair/Brown, but obviously Thatcher's the easy one to blame (although to be fair, in the South West everyone seems to think they are the next Banksy - who was from Bristol - hence just about everything gets vandalised/graffiti). Labour are pretty much irrelevant in Cheltenham, and in the South West in general, and in many areas only got marginally more than UKIP. -
First of all, Ming the Merciless has my vote Dante, and no, I don't mean the Scottish Lib Dem one! Although I am a fan of PR, I think we need to keep some kind of link to the constituencies, so what I propose, is that counties are turned into one big constituency, (so Devon, Cornwall, etc), which retain the same amount of MPs (or perhaps less, I do think they should be trimmed down a bit - if we have an elected House of Lords), and the d'Hondt method is used. So for example, under this method (I've worked this out myself, so excuse any inaccuracies) Cornwall would go from having 3 Lib and 3 Con, to having 3 Lib, 2 Con, 1 Lab. Devon would go from having 8 Con, 2 Lib, 2 Lab, to having 4 Con, 3 Lib, 3 Lab, and 1 UKIP. And so on. The Tories look like the big losers so far, but they'd make up for it in other areas.

From BBC: Labour dismisses Alex Salmond's suggestion of a "progressive alliance", saying the possibility of the nationalists and Labour working together was "a desperate attempt by Alex Salmond to make himself look relevant after a terrible general election result"

Where as the times of Thatcher are looked back upon as better times in my area, and they all talk about these as being the worst times in living memory for them. Regardless, what do you think about a Federal UK? Personally, I'd like to see the whole of Ireland in it, but that's amazingly controversial, although I do think it would be the only way to solve the current predicament, but that's a whole new topic.
-
I agree with everything but the last point. Blair and Brown are two Scots who've created this whole mess! If I had my way, I'd have a federal United Kingdom with the House of Lords converted into a 'Senate' representing the whole of the UK, the House of Commons converted into an English Parliament, which has the same devolved powers as the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments (as opposed to the current Welsh Assembly). I'd also support a Cornish Parliament, just to stop the moaning all the time (they at least deserve their own MEP - due to the Lisbon Treaty I think we regain an MEP at the next Euro elections).

Quite rightly so. http://www.clickonwales.org/05/hung-parliament-will-provoke-english-crisis/

I think you'll find it was a UK wide election for the UK House of Commons.
-
No, they're just in favour of spending English taxpayers money and voting on English matters.
-
Like the Scottish Numpty Party? Makes sense.
-
So you're a big fan of the same old failed parties ad infinitum... *yawn*.
-
Under PR, UKIP would have had 20 MPs, so we'll see if the Lib Dems force some electoral reform through.
-
Good point, lots of people who would have voted UKIP probably voted Tory to keep Labour/Lib Dems out.
-
I'm comparing the UK wide election that took place on Thursday. Are you suggesting SNP are an irrelevance within the UK?
-
Scottish National Party 491,386 1.7% +0.1 UK Independence Party 917,832 3.1% +0.9
-
HA! The Scottish Numpty Party did well with their target of 20 seats. As the time passes people will begin to hate Salmond and his vanity projects/ideas.
-
Just like I come from Tory heartlands where Thatcher is revered, indeed its hard to find someone that would speak ill of her round my way.
-
Unfortunately for the English and Welsh taxpayers, the majority of you don't want that!
-
I cannot wait for spending cuts in Scotland so that us down in England and Wales get a fairer deal. UKIP got more votes than Plaid Cymru, the IRA (sorry, I meant Sinn Fein) and Scottish Numpty Party put together yet didn't get a seat! It just shows how badly electoral reform is needed. Also, what the Tories should do, is take £300m from Scotland's budget, and give it to Wales, and they're guaranteed PC's votes!
-
Knock knock ...... Who's there ? ...... David ...... David who ? ...... Gordon open the f****** door and get out of my house! What's the difference between Nick Griffin and a bus? A bus has got seats. ------------ Jokes aside, I expect we'll have another election within 2 years. Con/Lib (anyone but Brown) election looks quite likely now! Thank God for that!

Well we do have to subsidise you in England and Wales so its only fair we get the oil money! I'm totally against Scottish independence - we love you guys really, don't leave! I'd rather a federal United Kingdom. -

Whose oil? Scots wouldn't have been able to fund the oil exploration in the first place, plus it isn't as much as you think now. Besides, main Scottish economy is banking and umm...well, less said about Scottish banks the better (unfortunately, as I was relying on them!).
