  1. Question: Why do sandstorms seem to target your massed deployed Kindjal's directly? I was playing the campaign once against the Ordos, I was pretty fearless because of my formidable defence of Kindjal's, but a storm appeared roughly a half of the map away from the rock piece my base and Kindjal's were deployed on, and it came *Right for them*, when it reached the spot where they were deployed, it just stopped there and started going in small circles... What a pest :P About killing crawling worms, Sonic Tanks do the trick. 2-3 normal ones can kill it with 1 shot from each of them. A rank-2 Sonic Tank can kill it with only 1 shot.
  2. Yes, Feds are GREAT against NIAB's. I always purposely make about 10-15 Feds and position them in a circle formation, and then make a little hole in my base, very inviting for the enemy, but also make sure there are no other such holes or back doors. It will have its full effect the first time the enemy sends his NIAB's against you. Normally the Guild-massing players invest in nothing else but in NIAB Tank production, so when they teleport into the trap, it will be a tottal waste of money and time for the Guild player, which opens a good wedge for you to attack him while he is vulnerable. As for the original question: I think the Atreides infantry is better than the Harkonnen counterpart, story-wise, the Atreides army is very well-trained and fierce, the Harkonnen's main source of motivation is to die on the field rather than in the Baron's slave pits. Game-wise the Atreides infantry costs more, so it has to mean that the Atreides counterpart has some advantage over the Harkonnen. The best infantry vs. infantry unit in my opinion is the Fremen Warrior, great combination of firing speed, range, and stealth. After that comes the Sardaukar regulars I persume, good armor, range and fighting capabilities.
  3. What I wanted to say on my other post is that every single unit in the game has a counter unit able to destroy it with relative ease. And people shouldnt stick to old ways and attacks if they do not work against a better defence, the best strategy is the one that best counters your opponent, that means its dynamic. Move with your opponent to destroy him, play with their minds, when he's occupied with your attacking forces, have a little Fedaykin force with Infiltrators that will *maybe* succeed in infiltrating his/her base and causing some more havoc, even if the surprise attack failed, it will also stress your opponent, making the victory that much easier to accomplish. I said "Missle Tanks, Dev's, and Inkvines" that easily just to show that everything has a counter, sure, you can always reply with "Sard elites will rip you out and my Feds will destry your tanks", and this arguement can go on and on to every single unit in the game, everything can be defeated, you can always focus the picture on a specific thing and have another person to zoom out of that thing and claim that he can destroy it with a counter, sure you can, I can also, but the picture was zoomed at 1 situation, thats what I said when I posted. If you want to take in all factors in the game you can always say that your opponent is using every unit he can train, and each and every post you make about countering the units put in the other person's former one, he can do the same thing about countering your counters ;)
  4. Well I dont mass Inkvines, but I can cause some unrest to a human player there with them. Normally in a Mino hoard there will be Mino's, Kindjals, and AirDrones, these are the 3 main units I see on Atr base defence. Now I get 3 Missle Tanks, 1 Inkvine, And about 2-3 Devastators. First I Inkvine their Kindjals and stress my opponent up because then he will either have to undeploy and move them or lose them. Then for the AirDrones, I use my Missles' long range for these and they are done for, the last thing to do is to drop Dev's right behind the mino wall, and pick 3 of them up in the air as soon as possible, then rush in my Missle Tanks too, since the Dev's will be soaking up all the damage. Normally it works :)
  5. If you can build and train Sardaukar structures and units in missions later on, just ignore what the mentat said. The "missed approtunity" BS she and all the other mentats give you is a notion of weather the subhouse will ally with you or not. If they did, then the game has a bug of some sort, if they didnt, then you somehow didnt complete the objective of that mission.
  6. Its not really the units that are "well rounded", it the whole army that is. For me, I dont like to use mass Mino's in attack, its so cheap, I hate how ever good game has some loophole that is vastly exploited by people who arent looking to have fun, but only to rack up wins to brag with. I prefer leaving Mino's reinforced with Kindjals and some airdrones overhead for a solid base defence. I prefer attacking with Mongooses as my main bulk unit with support from Fremen and Sardaukar units. Or something unexpected, such as a normal attack force, but with Infiltrators tagging right behind, for normally people send Infiltrators into an enemy base with no support, and people counter that by "blocking" all passages with scouts.
  7. Every house has characteristics and capabilities, they all are efficient, but it depends on your immediate mood and playstyle. Atreides - Have the most well-rounded army, capably of even offence and defence. Atreides is the easiest house to defend with in my opinion becuse of kindjals and Minotauruses. The problem is, they dont have an anti-air infantry, but these are often filled in by Sardaukar Elite. Harkonnen - Have the best ground units and good ait power. Their ground forces include the most armoured (Devastators), the most ranged (Inkvines), and the most damaging of units (Devastators, Missle Tanks...) The Harkonnens speciallize on overpowering their foes with great solid ground attacks, their Gunships also provide great air support for that army. Ordos - Have some of the most fun (in my opinion), devious, insidious strategies and tactics. Their ground forces speciallize on speed and hit-and-run attacks to weaken and kill the enemy rather than heavy armor for head-on engagement. Laser Tanks can easily defeat most vehicles, with some exceptions such as Missle Tanks or Mongooses which can fire tracking missles at them. The Ordos units are often found as "good at what they do best, horrible at what they lack". Kobras, though, are a more refreshing units for this light and quick house, providing great firepower and decent armour. There concludes my look at the houses, I personally prefer the Atreides because I love being capable of everything, they are well rounded and dont lack anything that badly.
  8. Well It may be of the way you assault that you cant be that successfull with them. To assault properly, know each unit's purpose, advantages, and disadvatages. You said that Devastators are slow, then use Adv-Carryals to ferry them, get 3 Devastators behind an enemy base and watch them grind it down. When you assault, put units like Assault Tanks and Buzzsaws infront to squish/attract firepower from the enemy while the other light armored units-that you said one of them was the Missle Tank-come in behind or from the side to deal alot of damage, use the missle tanks against heavy vehicles and Inkvines against anti-armor infantry, they are incredibly usefull against Kindjals and Mortars. A lob from the Inkvine Catapult into an enemy infantry formation will give him/her a hell of a time micromanaging the troops out of the radius.
  9. I may have spelt it wrong, but I tried. A batan is the club that cops carry with them in addition to the gun and flashlights.
  10. The Ordos, as shown in the house intro movie, are pure mercenary, they value profit, and profit only. They ally with whoever can offer them something and will just as easily break that alliance if they have nothing left to offer. Thats how the Ordos function, like mindless drones. Now Harkonnens are a different story, they are evil because they've been brought up to be a sadistic culture with a history of violence. P.S. The Ordos mentat is my least favourite, so demanding, nothing ever satisfies her, I think she has a batan stuck up her ass, anyone wanna check?
  11. Atreides, must have been the Kindjal that I fell in love with. Atr also have the Mongoose and the evil (/)inotaur, I love these units....
  12. For me, Sonic Tanks make awsome projecting material, they can literally stop enemies in their tracks if you have other units on the front, just sneak them a little around and get the enemy by an angle. Real Sonic Tanks are also good for stopping attacks in single player as I've experienced, I stopped 3 Devastators, and propably 3-4 Assault Tanks with only 3 Sonic Tanks. Their firepower is almost unmatched, but their speed, cost and medium armor are something to consider.
  13. My favourite is whichever counters my opponent's force best. It is usually the laser tank unless the enemy makes good use of fremen and sardaukar, then its improvisation time :P
