Make this real simple, I should be able to kill myself if I want to, and do so freely. It is *MY* life and it is *MY* choice, you should be able to have no say in it. Further more, regardless of weather you ban it or not the people will just kill themselves, Hell, do you know I could pay some guy in the ghetto to cap me ten times for 20 bucks? I mean really, it's irrelevent as to weather you agree or disagree because it's inevitable for the actions to be carried out if the individual really has the mindset to end their lives.

But why should we make a law for suicide? You can do anything, in your responsibility, for your honor. But why should state, thing which must protect you from death as long as possible to ensure your worthiness, make it lawful? It will be always immoral, as many things, which are unstoppable. With law they will be decriminalised and suicide may become a usual "solvement" of problems.

We shouldn't forget that suicide isn't only about our life. It affects much more people. Not saying about new possibilities in today's crimes. How quickly you will be able to get to father's legacy...

pfff, euthanasia is not possible for the average person you know. Only in certain circumstances in which it is more pleasable for the person, AND his or her relatives to die. Who would live in eternal torment anyway

Ok, assuming Euthanasia was only legal if there were very great proof that the victim - sorry - patient much preferred to die, would it be sensible, Caid, to allow it for those dying of painful terminal illnesses?

No torment is ethernal, maybe only hell, and I'm not sure even with this. Cause of human is to use all energy, despite it is sometimes painful. If someone is dying, I think it would be rude to "help" him to get there faster.

But of what benefit can a man dying in agony, a man who does not wish to live further be? How can this energy be effectively expended? And are you suggesting that we force people to undergo torture in the offchance that they might do something beneficial? Or simply so that they use up all their energy, resources - whcih is in of itself detrimental?

Such person should try at least to end conflicts which he made, last regrets and other such acts. I would say that not everyone has such chance to do it, altough it is vulgar to say that slow death is beneficial. For himself, he can be fully prepared for death, his last feeling most possibly won't be a fear.

hmm, well... ok. I do not share your opinion. And i am certainly glad that no one has to. But in your own religious way, i can understand why you think that is right.

why should i have guilt? guilt for what? I don't owe anything to anyone. And i'm 100% sure that my mother would like me to die if my status was so bad, that the only thing i could do for the rest of my life was live in pain and stare at a plant.

But surely if someone knows when they shall die - indeed decides when they should they are more likely to end conflicts, etc., and can be fully prepared for it when it comes. If left to die in pain, someone might keep putting off trying to end conflicts and so on, and when death does come, it will not be expected (at that particular time) - and so the person will in fact be unprepared!

Unprepared for the straight time point, but for the closing death he will be.

Flameweaver, if your signature is true, you are 19. You don't know what will the life bring to you.

Are people still worrying about this.

IMO it is simple. It is the life of someone else, so that someone else decides about it. Humans have hunger for power over other people.

And when it is your believe that people may not kill themselves, take that into judgement when you are deciding about your own life, not that of others.

People may kill themselves as long as they don't disturb others, like jumping in front of a train

it is true, and you are right, i do not know what is coming still. But people do get sick so badly, that there is no possible recovery, perhaps only to hardly live at all, PERHAPS even on a bed with food coming through your nose for as long as you live. If that person after 5 years living like this says, I want to end this, i think that all of the family agrees as it is not only a problem for the kid in bed, but also for the family who constantly have to worry about him/her. I can understand if that person than thinks, i wish to end this life, as it is not a life at all. I wholeheartedly support his decision.

oh and Timenn, i know what you mean, people jumping in front of trains and cars is just plain stupid and arrogant. The drivers of those cars and train and anyone else nearby will be shocked what happens, and blame themselves. Noone should ever do that, then i'd rather hope that they hang themselves. Well... and the blood on my car ofcourse. THEY BETTER COME BACK AND CLEAN MY CAR!!

I have no idea what this sentence means. Apologies; could you explain what you mean?

I think in slovak and write in english, so it makes sometimes a problem. See Flameweaver's post, he understood.

Now back to topic. Flameweaver, if someone was able to resist the pain for % years, he would simply...habituate. About Timenn, I thought I won't have to say, that it isn't human, who gave us our souls, but whatever, this won't tell you nothing as well. Flameweaver described the thing rather vulgarily, but it is, however, true.
